A friend of mine is looking to buy a laptop with a budget of around £600.

Whilst I consider myself pretty well clued up with what is what in the world of desktop computers the world of the notebook is all a bit vague to me.

Wondering if there was anyone out there who has recently purchased a £600 laptop that they are particulary pleased with?

He works offshore...so mostly it is to keep him amused in his cabin while his boat sails the seven seas.

He is not a big gamer like I am.....but is not adverse to a bit of 3D or sports sim (pro ev) action.

Aside from that, it would be mostly used for watching films, browsing internet etc etc....

    Basic non-specialist usage in otherwords.

(a built in TV tuner is also high up the list but I am sure that such a thing would be an option with most laptop packages)

If you have a travel-card thing. You pay monthly for a card you stick in the side/back of your laptop and can walk around with the internet.

I'm sure they'd have WiFi, too.

Cheers m8....but the laptop is not for me and purchasing a 2nd hand laptop from a private seller in another country seems like a bit of a slippery proposition.
