It's a 300Gb iomega external HDD, and I got it for free!

However "free" always doesn't mean there is nothing wrong with it..
It needs a new 12v 2,0A powersupply. Anywhere I can find a spare one, or any other that I can use (multi or similar)?

IMO the best choice is to get one of those multi adapters. Otherwise you could end up with one that's the wrong size, or end up paying over the top for a genuine/specific one.

Only thing is, most of them only go up to 1200mA. Here's one that's 2000mA but it seems a little over-priced.

I have a bunch of adapters and might have something in that range but you would need to know what the pin-out for the power cord is. I assume it's a switching power supply in which case it might just be 5v on one pin, but you might have 5 and 12 volt pins or maybe 2 5's.

If you look at the specs on the power brick (or internal supply if that's what it has) and you see a dashed line under a straight line, I think that means it's a switching psu.

I believe this one should be fine for your external HDD. --> AC Adapter

Thanks, I managed to get a correct adapter for it.
Had to format the drive, was a lot of "crap" (images, videos, files) on it.
Now I really can make some backups of my files!

    Happy 4th!

Thanks for getting back to us. It's always nice to know how these things turn out. Which reminds me of an old thread I never got back to. It was never resolved, but I think I do a little thread necromancing anyway. :toast:
