Hi there, my current GPU had recently stopped working. Usual symptoms of screen going black and screen not picking up signal, plus not recognizing GPU at all. It was a gigabyte 7750 2gb oc which I've had for about 2 and half years and was very reliable. Now, I'm looking at a replacement as I'm currently running off my cpus graphics which is sufficient for what I'm currently using it for. I'm not looking for the best, but just something that would be an upgrade from my last one. Looking to spend nothing more than $200 strictly between $150-200.
From what I've researched my options are:
Gigabyte R7 360 OC 2gb at $165 or Sapphire variant 360 nitro at $155
Or
Asus GTX 750Ti 2gb at $179 or variant Asus 750Ti OC at $189.
Links are below if you would like to check:
http://www.centrecom.com.au/nvidia-amd-graphics-cards?specs=199,200&orderby=10
http://www.msy.com.au/vic/mitcham/200-ati-amd
Just looking for something reliable with reasonable performance and not overly power hungry as an upgrade from previous card.
Any recommendations or help would be appreciated plus pc specs are as listed on profile.
Regards, Dovah88.

Since I defected from AMD to NVIDIA back in 2009 I haven't looked back, so I recommend the 750 Ti. Having said that, many people have good experiences with AMD cards, so perhaps you should try both from Amazon and give back the one you like less.

Since I defected from AMD to NVIDIA back in 2009
I did too about the same time - but not because of the hardware, but rather the software AMD (ATI back then) insisted be foisted on our systems at the time. Only recently have I tried AMD again, most recently a R7 250X 2GB DDR3 and so far, no regrets. So I agree to be open to either one.

I think $150 to $200 is a large spread for a budget and gives you many options.

I recommend you check out GPUBoss. It seems you are aware, but do keep in mind that graphics cards are often the most power hungry devices in our computers. While you have a decent supply, 550W is not a lot.

It does become a matter of preference I suppose, it's just I've heard so many different views on the two cards, being the r7 360 and the 750 Ti. I've mainly had amd cards but these new line ones seem to absorb alot more power even though they are smaller compared to the nvidia 750. Why is that? Are the benefits from these new power hungry amd cards noticeable? Or would I be better to stick with lower consuming cards like nvidias? I was reading that even the gtx 950 only takes 350w apparently but that's far out of the budget.

Not here you can't (Australia), cheapest one is around $235 and would be an overkill probably.

Go for the 750 ti or if you can find a R7 265 or HD 7850 or 7870 in that price range.

Go for the 750Ti, you won't be disappointed, and it's cheaper to run.
The 750Ti is better than the 7750 in nearly every test thrown at it, and uses less power.

Well I'm not looking to spend more then need be. I could get the 370 for $195 once it comes back into stock but I do think it may just be a bit too large for my case and not sure on the power requirement and whether it would strain my psu. I'm not an avid pc gamer, but don't mind playing something occasionally. I've heard evga do better nvidia cards and sapphire do better amd ones but does it matter? I'm definitely considering the 750Ti, is it worth going the oc one? (P.s) Thankyou for all the recommendations so far everyone.

I would also vote 750ti in this case. EVGA is generally just pricy. MSI, Asus, Gigabyte.

You have to OC them yourself anyway if you want the best performance. The OC model might have a slightly faster processor, or other features.

Well if that's the case then I might as well go with the 750ti then and not the oc model, generally more power consumption when doing that.

Alright so if they're generally the same then I'll just go with whichever is the cheapest model or available (Asus more than likely). This card seems the go, even if it is slightly more expensive compared to the R7 360. Just quickly though, why does that card require alot more power and yet be on par with the 750ti?

It's a lot more efficient.

How does the used market look?

Can't say, haven't been particularly looking around for used cards and they're an annoyance most of the time, trying to find what you're looking for.

Looked around now, they're also slower. I'd go for the 750ti. Or the r7 370 if you can strech a bit.

Nvidia updated architecture a couple years ago and everything from GTX 750 up is a lot more power efficient.

Holy crap! I was thinking you could buy something from the US and have it shipped for a lot less than you are paying, but the Australian $ is only worth 0.71 US$ now. Huge drop from 3 years ago.

Alrighty well I can get a Asus 750Ti 2gb for around $179 or I can wait for the Sapphire R7 370 dual x to come back into stock at $195. But The 750Ti is looking like a good choice for what I'm looking for. Don't need the best, only something reliable and with reasonable performance and efficiency. Does the direct x 12 support in the new amd cards make a huge difference? Or do the nvidia ones have that too?

Yeah I know, the $ has been down for quite sometime now, so buying within Australia has been the better option. (Even if we are paying more ;D)

Something to think on to say the least with the options but I believe it has been narrowed down. CPU seems to be doing the trick for now though so I could wait.

Depends on a 750ti ;)

Well which GTX750 Ti does need a 6 pin connector?

Edit: Ok found 1 Asus but it's not really needed, a GTX750Ti has a powerdraw of 60 watts which can be delivered by PCI express lane.
