So I've been trying to figure out a good way to go about this without spending a whole lot of money...I have thought about buying a lot of second-hand parts and putting them all together to make my own closed water loop dedicated to my GPU. Pump, reservoir, radiator/fan, tubing, etc.

And then I thought, "they make lots of dedicated water coolers now for CPU's, why not just mod my own?"

Then I stumbled upon this gem:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103179&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-35-103-179-_-Product
$25 after rebate!!!

I can get the swiftech waterblock for my card for like $53 (probably cheaper but thats what it is going for retail). Add like $10 for some zalman VRAM coolers and BOOM. Water cooled card complete? Am I dumb for thinking this can happen or does this seem completely possible? Will the cpu coolers move enough water to keep my gpu cooler than air?

Hi

This may be of interest here

Bracket here Edit: DEAD LINK see cadaveca post below

Cooling GPU and VRAM is covered, but Don't forget to cool the VRM's [voltage regulators]

nb: just my 2 cent's; steer clear of CM product go with H60 if possible and in budget

If you go through with this; pic's at the end of the project please :toast:

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that as well. The thing is, the 7950/7970 are difficult to water cool it seems because of the weird angle that the chip sits at. I was hoping to get something somewhat cheap that would be easy to mod to fit.

That dude is no longer making brackets. I got my refund, maybe last weekend, or the week before, after waiting many weeks. Those brackets were truly affordable, and I think he just got swamped with orders. I was waiting for two brackets for my GTX670's, actually, and if he started selling again and had some stock that'd ship within a couple of days, I'd order a bunch, but such si not possible. NZXT is apparently making some for their AIO coolers though, dunno when/if they will be released.

In this case go with Full cover EK water block pump and T line [as res], Rad in push pull; distilled water and an additive; just my 2 cent's
