    Hello,
I have an ATI Radeon HD 6850 card and it has 1 Gb memory. Whenever I run a game like Starcraft 2 on ultra or BF3 on medium setting GPU-Z will not show the full 1 Gb of memory the card has under the "memory used" area. For example, when playing Starcraft 2 on ultra GPU-Z will show only 408 mb of memory used. What's going on here??

My system is AMD Phenom II X4 975 at 3.6 GHz
    Sabertooth 990FX mobo
    8 Gb RAM
    ATI Radeon HD 6850

    Thanks for any help.

Nothing out of the ordinary. SC2 is only using 408MB of memory. You can try turning up the "eye candy" if possible. That for example may increase memory use.
But nothing is wrong it is not expected that the card is going to use the full 1GB.
Turn BF3 up to Ultra just as a test and you'll probably see it using most of the memory.
    glennyrd says thanks.

You were right. I turned the settings in BF3 to Ultra and the memory usage peaked at 970 mb. Thanks a lot! I didn't know how that all worked. That clears things up.
