My brother's 8800GT got fried, and this will be a replacement.

I'm not looking for something very powerful or high-end, mainly because his PSU is an LC Power 550W, his monitor is 1280x1024 and processor is a 5000BE @ stock.

Item has to be shipped to EU, so obviously if you're in the EU shipping will be cheaper.
But I'll consider sellers from any location depending on what is offered and the total price.

    My heatware.

Why not upgrade while you're at it. HD 5770/GTS450/GTX550Ti/HD7750/HD6790 maybe GTX460, if you're strapped for cash an HD4850/GTS250/9800GTX+.

His power supply won't handle that. The 4870x2 probably uses 3x more energy than the 8800gt.

Your brother should upgrade to the newer 5x00, 6x00, and 7x00 cards - the low/medium end ones use about the same amount of electricity as the 8800gt while having improved performance.

For example, I suggest a 5770 or a 6770 (the two are exactly the same, just rebranded). It is 150% the performance of the 8800gt, but uses about the same amount of power as a 9800GT (which in turn uses about the same electricity as an 8800GT). People around here, on overclock forums, ebay, etc sell the 5770/6770 for about $80.

    Bump, anyone's got a 5850, 5770, 6770 or 450 or 550? Or 540? Or an 8800GT or 9800GTX? Or an 8800GTX?

I got an offer (not from a TPU member) for a 4890 for €70.
    Is it a good price?

The same guy has a Palit GTS250 for €45. I'm thinking of going for the 250 because it would be cheaper and because it draws less power than the 4890?

8 series gpus were horrible power hogs. Don't think you can't run sli/crossfire due to what the 8 series pulled. Check the specs..

Why would anyone pay $100 for a 4890 when they can get a GTX460 that outperforms it for the same price?

    US$100 = €80

He's definitely not going to sli/cf. Only one pci-e slot in his mobo.

Edit: Just realized his PSU only has one pci-e 6-pin connector. So both 4890 and 250 are out of the story now.. :(

Am getting the PowerColor 4890 with Accelero Cooler for €70, purchased locally.
Shipping from U.S. to EU was over $40 so I couldn't really buy from a U.S. seller, sorry... :ohwell:
