I have the evga 970 ftw edition GPU I just got it recently I didnt know a new GPU was coming out so soon so I just ordered the Titan X from the nvidia store and im gonna send the 970 back. i jus want the titan x for shits and giggles. When I checked out on the nvidia store it didnt give me any information about the card as to what the brand was going to be. does the nvidia store only ship 1 brand? will it be a random brand that they happen to have at the time?

I honestly don't agree with anyone voting pony. I mean what possible reason could you have? speed and looks wont drive the market new revisions and consumer taste will make something like that obsolete in 6 months. Just like pretty much every revision of iphone. then eventually you will get stuck in whatever HTC is in right now with their M9 eventually you just stop progressing in terms of looks.

The turtles on the other hand maybe aren't as showy or fast but they are far more usable ina consumer space not to mention they live forever so you don't need to worry about life cycles being every other quarter. Not to mention the added benefits of a shell and fins. the power to swim in this economy and a good shield from youtube review comments from so called "experts".

I don't want anyone to misunderstand i think ponies have uses but im tired of upgrading. and I dont want big corporations thinking its totally cool to charge me 12% more the following generation for a pony with a saddle. I want a totally diffirent type of pony for the amount im paying now. turtles are cheap more are made per batch.

I guess but id like to think the market is stable enough with the sheer volume of turtles to ponies. each has their advantage but im just saying if i want to hold onto a platform id go with what most people are making.

In the pictures of the Titan X how many cards do you see with EVGA, GB, ASUS, etc logos?

Nvidia sells them to board partners and they box them up. The ones from nvidia probably come in that plain black box with the huge x on it.

I once thought of ordering a circular frog sticker to stick on my fan where they usually stick a company logo... but I thought it might void my warranty (or just be hard to explain, take your pick).

Buy a Titan X if you want and can afford it. But there's a very good chance you'll say "Doh!" In about 3 months.
I'm not talking about progress, I'm talking about when AMD release their new card and Nvidia 'might' respond with a cut down Titan X variant that could be just as fast.

I would wait a couple of months also to see what the R9 390x brings. The last I read was that the 300x series should begin to drop around June. Also looking back on the Kepler releases you may end up paying $300 for less performance. The Big Keplers started with a Titan that was a cut down GK110 chip for $1,000 and then followed by a cut down GK110 GTX 780 for gaming for $650 and finally the Big Kepler Flagship GK110 GTX 780 Ti which had more cores than the Titan, was faster and cost $700. They did release a Titan Black that had the same cores as the 780 Ti but it was $300 more.

Nothing that I know of. Seems other people want to dissuade your purchase rather than answer your actual question... lol.

I mean, I too would wait, but that's entirely your call of course.

They may be cheaper than partner stores that seem to sell above the MRSP.

Maybe a reference design with a reference noisy cooler? Not sure on that but it happens at times..... as an aside, at least badgers were not a vote option.... hate badgers.

Well I have a suggestion, why not just order two very high clocked GTX 980's for about the same price?

What resolution are you going for as well?

I am just curious as to why you would go from a GTX 970 to a GTX Titan X without considering the middle option which is a very good option.

If his specs are up to date he's going from a GTX 460 to a Titan X. That's a heck of a nice upgrade! Must have got a nice raise at work. :)

i just updated my system specs.

ill be getting all the parts listed under system specs on monday or tuesday, 3/23-3/24. ill let you all know how it goes, i may even need some fast help from you all when the day comes. i havent ordered the OS yet. I cant decide if i want windows 7 or 8.1. I like the windows 7 interface better and have no interest in trying to learn windows 8.1. The only reason I would consider 8.1 is if it had any performance advantages over 7. Does it? Id like to hear all your opinions

also this is the monitor i MIGHT buy in a month when I can afford it, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7VCSGU/?tag=tec06d-20 What do you guys think about it? Is my pc build good enough to not lag in 3440x1440 on most games?

i just updated my system specs.

ill be getting all the parts listed under system specs on monday or tuesday, 3/23-3/24. ill let you all know how it goes, i may even need some fast help from you all when the day comes. i havent ordered the OS yet.

Is my pc build good enough to not lag in 4k on most games?

sorry i have another question. why is the monitor i mentioned above listed as 4k on newegg? newegg says the following resolutions are 4k, 3840x2160, 3440x1440, 5120,2880. I thought there was only one 4k resolution, and that it was 3840x2160... is 3440x1440 really 4k?

The monitor you linked to says 3440 X 1440 so it's not 4K. 4K is 3840 X 2160. The monitor that you linked looks very nice but you will be paying a premium for the curve. I don't think you will have any trouble running it with a Titan X. Basically it has 34.5% more pixels than a 2560 X 1440 monitor and a Titan X should handle that with ease. To put it in perspective

4K ~8.3 million pixels
your monitor ~4.95 million pixels
2560X1440 ~ 3.7 million pixels.

If you do get a 4K monitor then I would say a single Titan X won't really be enough for some games. You can look at the review here to see
