i wish i was made of awesome. but hey, people with lots of money go buy fast cars and drive them fast and crash them and dont give a shit. this is the same. who cares. they are still making video cards.

because its a fucking waste, people like him should not be allowed to do things like this

i cannot fathom ever being able to get a gtx 280 instead of breaking it and wasting $600 he could give it away or not buy the card in the first place

such a waste of money and a good card, i dont care if people can do what they like still dosnt make it right to waste like that

My neighbour has a single overclocked 280 coupled with an E8500, he plays crysis at 16xx and maxes everything with no stutter but TBH I quite fancy 3 :)

I use to destroy cards just for the hell of it. I know that it provides some sort of rush to some people :slap: However, it does get very boring really fast. The last card I purposely destroyed was an 8800gt. It died in fine fashion with 2 caps popping & it pumped so much heat it smoked :rockout: I did get a replacement for the card but for some reason after that, all of my drive to blow it up was gone.

Since then I had 2 cards die on me (of natural causes) including a 3870x2 & a 3850  Both were replaced & are ticking to this day in other systems. I might have the cash to burn on the cards but whenever I find the urge to destroy them, I think of it as taking money out of my wallet & torching it. Yeah, I know, its a hard habit to break :D

sure, wrecking good equipment on purpose is deplorable, but i reckon there are bigger injustices in the world to get upset about.

There are worse things but this shows he has little respect for anything he owns meaning he could treat people that worked for him like crap because he doesn't have decent morals.

Oi, oi, that's alittle harsh isn't it. Some ppl take out the stress from everyday life on material things. When I worked in lower level IT, I took out my frustrations on perfectly good junk pc's we had lying around that could have been parted out. I ruined a rack of metal baseball bats on them over the span of 4 months. I think my boss took the hint because I was promoted right along with him when the time came. People who takes out their frustrations on other ppl are foolish. No need to bash the guy on flawed logic :(

Truly, the GTX 280 on tri-SLI is the best on the market so far, however, DX11 is coming so I feel sorry for the owners of this as my upgrading frenzy has gone into a coma till further notice. Today, the GTX 280 on SLI is the best, however, DX11 based products in the future should conquer this setup in time, especially when Windows 7 is a CPU and GPU guzzling OS as previewed on PC Magazine(BTW they are using a GUI with cartwheel effects to select files and folders in a window!) Therefore, this next-gen OS will treat this $1500 GPU setup like dirt. So sorry to pop your bubble as this is sad but true.

NOTE: Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Newer CPUs and GPUs in late 08 and early 09!

DX11 is compatible with DX10 compatible cards :rockout: and windows 7 will not be bad on the system since it will be optimised and such they are only on the beta I think and alot of things will change when its released.

you can always tweak the preferences.. its even if 11 is out, 280 will do just fine

True, DX11 does work on DX10 cards but how would you know how a card was configured for an API that is a year of so ahead from its generation even turn out? Thinking about how it or they would perform in benchmarks is like playing chess in the dark. Take Vista for example, when it was first released, Microsoft claimed too much on things that Vista can only do well at first with a system that cost more than 10 used cars at a dealership on Chinatown. Basically, the whole PC community went to hell, especially when upgrades that finally fixed the problem rolled along right after people spent thousands with the exact same impression:shadedshu. So hear me out on this one: even though DX10 and 10.1 based cards work with DX11 AS CLAIMED, do you really want to take a chance in OS claims that have chances of never happening? As for Windows 7, I do have some sense of confidence that hardware would eventually catch up but in the mean time today's OS's and game engines have been years ahead over hardware since '04, and the only kind of hardware that is somewhat generations ahead is quad and duo-quad core processors, as they have some potential of 128-bit interfaces and multi-threading technologies. In the mean time, I will be looking for a 128-bit OS in the future :banghead:

Why 128 bit we haven't adopted 64 yet. Multi threading was introduced in vista and Win7 is focusing on reliability such as the MinWin kernal. Also yesterdays hardware works with todays vista quite well. Also the cards will work well with dx11 since I heard its to make developing games easier for the developers.

I want to see DX11 before I make any judgement of assuming on getting a DX11 supportive card, even at that point, how much DX11 will really be out there? Not much...DX9c will probably still be the leading DX api well after 11 has been released...gotta look at market relativity too...if they just make support for 11, 10, 10.1, or whatever...trying to force consumers to upgrade isn't a good deal..just like you said with the Vista launch.

Hell there isn't even really that much out for 10, there was a blip for 10.1 in games...11 will take the same route unless it is truly revolutionary and compatable to the point it can actually make an improvement in areas it claims to. Like I said, I'll stay skeptic just like I did of 10, and still do, these newer DX api's are more gimmicks than having actual usefulness...waiting for a card to support 11 could be pointless if 11's performance degradation turns out to be like DX10 was initially, bad coding or not...time will truly tell what DX 10-thru-11, Windows 7 and the "next, next, next best hardware to wait for...lol" is really worth it or not, initially I say mostly nay...but like anything, after a while of polish, trial and error, they will all kick ass.

For the 64/128 bit part, I said that the processors have potential. Plus, I apologize as I should've said stable multi-threading since right now I feel like I got hit by a truck. And yes, DX10 cards with DX11 should serve game devs well, however I'm thinking about how the power-users feel with high res gameplay and max detail settings enabled. Another thing I should;ve mentioned is that due to the heads up I put up about upcoming CPUs and GPUs if we upgrade right away, we could miss a lot on what Intel and Microsoft launches in the future, DX11 may come out, but thinking about DX10's attempt to get back on the playing field with DX10.1, what if there will be a DX11.1 or DX11b? With that in mind, thinking about computer companies bashing heads about API's and all is like consumers like me watching this "War of the Users" battle on a hill while laughing at the other consumers who think that the coast is clear lol.

bleh directx 11 should be a part of direct X 10 since its not really new. I thought the 64/128 bit you meant that 128bit was coming soon anyway my bad I think I made myself out to be a little harsh today  my bad.

Yeah yeah, sure. But everyone in this forum knows that in six months time, GTX 280 users will stand in front of a coffin singing a memorial song everyone should know. SOOOOO:

GTX 280 Memorial Song

As we build on, we remember,
All the times we've pwned together.
As technologies change, or whatever,
We thought three 280s would be the best forever.

(sniff!)

it appears the crysis monster has won once again, its ashame because trubitars seems really upset at the death of the GTX280, "oh,it died, ha ha ha"
Mind you fairly good video, educational reasons = Crysis will win eventually.

Yeah yeah, sure. But everyone in this forum knows that in six months time, GTX 280 users will stand in front of a coffin singing a memorial song everyone should know. SOOOOO:

GTX 280 Memorial Song

As we build on, we remember,
All the times we've pwned together.
As technologies change, or whatever,
We thought three 280s will last forever.

So Nananana, nananana,
Hooray! Build on!

In fact, I'm adding this song as my new signature until I get assassinated by NVIDIA users and employees lol.
