Mine can with just basic fan for GPU and no heat sinks for memory.

Now the memory is bad (due to over heating) Grrrrrrrr

ATI is so dumb selling video cards that don't have heatsink on the memory!!!! Grrrr!

they need a can of whoop ass!

So I bit my lip and bought a Nvidia 7900

I'll be replacing the heatsink with a zalman and with heat sinks on the memory for sure!

I do have one question though. when taking the heatsink off. Do I twist or yank or pry?

What is the best methodology for this?

it didn't have heatsinks on the ram because the ram wasn't clocked high enough to die from overheating

anway, don't twist or pry, generally you can just unscrew the heatsink and pull it off without much effort

RMA the thing if you can, it shouldn't just freak out like that unless you have no case fans allowing air into and out of the case!

It is weird too because the case that it is in is the new ANTEC900 series with the big fan on top.

How would I go about getting an RMA? its not like I kept the reciept for it.

If not then anyone wanna buy an 1300 for $20?

I think it works fine if you just use MS word or play solitare.

anything else intensive and it will crash.
