i just looked up the board, that one doesnt require external PCI E power connection to run.

ya know what, if you had someone build the machine for you take it back to them and tell them it doesnt work.

Other than that to me the card sounds like its dead dead.
last ditch efforts

Ensure card is squared in the pci e slot

1. Run the entire machine out of the case on a non conductive bench (Motherboard- elevated so video card can sit in properly, ram, powersupply, Harddrives, optical drives, video card, keyboard, mouse)

1.5 Try to run with just the motherboard, ram powersupply, video card, keyboard, mouse

Reset the CMOS and try to run again.

if it fails to power up fans or even post, return the card for a different brand (HIS, Sapphire, XFX, Powercolor etc)

I wouldn't be confident doing all of that. I'm starting to think it could be my cheap PSU (like mentioned before) it says 500w but I read somewhere it's more likely around 320w Would that still be enough to power it? Should I spend some of the GPU refund on a decent PSU like Corsair?

if it says that then Yes I would get a different Powersupply.

Antec, Seasonic, Enermax, PC Power and Cooling, Corsair

those are who i recommend.

any of the PSUs ive suggested are ATX standard, meaning if you look at CIT in your case- it meets ATX standard- just not up to snuff to power any hardware other than an Atom CPU lmao.

So Yes the Power supplies i suggested will fit in that case.

Some ATX power supplies are longer than others. I have a 300 and 350 watt that are the same length then my Corsair GS800 is about an inch and a half longer than those.

Another update. I e mailed the people that built my PC and told them about the problem (Mentioning that it could be the PSU) just to see what they thought and got this back;

I am sorry to hear that the new card is not functioning. We have fitted the HD7750 graphics card to our systems without changing the power supply with no problems in the past. The ATI website states that this card should only require a 400W power supply and no additional PCI-E connection, which the standard power supply more than covers:
http://www.amd.com/uk/products/desktop/graphics/7000/7750/Pages/radeon-7750.aspx#3

With no additional PCI-E connection the card can only draw up to 75W through the PCI-E slot on the motherboard, which the power supply should have no problem providing. I would recommend awaiting the other suppliers test results when the graphics card is returned before buying a new power supply (especially if the fans do not even spin up).

I hope this information helps however if you require any further details then please do not hesitate to contact myself.

I think that might rule out the PSU for now as I don't see why they'd lie as I didn't even buy the GPU from them. My friend has a similar priced build to me and he's been running a 550ti in his for nearly a year although I think he has a different generic PSU.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the people that sold me the GPU to see if I can send it back. I guess my next move after that should be to get a different brand of 7750 and try it, then if that doesn't work possibly get a new PSU.

The ones that are normally bigger would be 1000+ watt models.

Just a little update....

Sent the VTX3D one back last Thursday and it still hasn't arrived at their returns department (Not having much luck with the Royal Fail lately) so I still haven't got a refund.

I'm getting the Sapphire version of the 7750 tomorrow as I'm going into town. I've got my fingers crossed that it's going to work with no problems.

All the research I've done suggests my PSU, albeit a crappy one shouldn't be the problem as the 7750 uses hardly any power.

Wish me luck! lol.

And could someone point me in the direction of the exact driver I'll need just so I know I'm not being stupid. Thanks.

Good news!

Got the Sapphire version of 7750 today and it works fine, installed with no probs and games are looking sexy on my tv.

Just need to get my money back for the last one now, which was obviously dead.

Thanks for everyones help.
