Looking forward to any testing you can do :)

Especially a comparison at identical overclocks would be very nice, say 1Ghz vs 1Ghz? Both for synthetic and ingame benchmarks.

Also make sure the systems are as close to eachother as possible when it comes drivers and such. 10.2 or 10.3 ideally.

one difference will be that all previous bench's with the 5850 were done with 10.1 drivers and for the 5870 Iam running 10.2, otherwise everything the same , well except for my new psu, that I still cant get over how quiet it is lol I will be doing the vantage,3dmark 05,06 heavens, through out the day today unless pain gets under control abit better Dragon
HERE is another furmark ai the 5870 at clocks 960x1285 @1.175 volts...and a 5850 at 894x1190 clocks notice the nice temps on the 5870, I think it has better cooling than the 5850 did, mind you the 5850 is o/c'ed fairly good too lol

ok after running 3dmark06 with 5870 at stock and all that i had for my 5850 was 894@1190 clocks there was only a 700 difference being that the 5870 was faster, but not by much Dragon
    23290 5850...894@1190
    23990 5870...850@1200

right now I have the 5870 clocked at 960@1285 @1.175v and the temps are nice as well from how stable it is I can see it going alot higher yet Dragon

Very little between them really eh!

Seems like 5870 will be a moot purchase for most people : ]

I guess it comes down to if you want to spend that extra $ for that extra fps! but Iam still not at the end of my o/cing on the 5870, tommorow I will see how far it will go, Iam still at a fairly low voltage, and temps are fine, so Iam sure I can get to that 1000@1300 and if so Ithink it might pay to spend a few extra bucks,

no problem , my pain is sort of under control today, so I can get some stuff done around the house as well run some of these tests with the new card
I Will get the vantage run abit later cuase first i need to burn so movies for the kids because there is no school today and they come first lol
also i picked up some arctic cooling mx-3 wich is tons better than as-5, keeps my temps down at least 5-8 degrees cooler!!

Do you want me to throw in my 5850 test results that I've got so far? If I could find a program that would allow me to change the voltage on it (I have the toxic and someone said it might be just different enough that programs can't access the voltage) I'd be able to get well over 950/1350 which is where I'm sitting on 1.088 volts. It could make it even more interesting to see if the 5850 toxic could outclock a 5870 for 60 bucks cheaper :)

    Post you benchmarks also.
Post the scores at stock speed and overclocked.
I was looking at the Toxic card yesterday.
