my gfx card (Radeon HD 4870) has 2 DVI-ports. my monitor, a BenQ G2412HD, has a HDMI-port. i've got a HDMI->DVI converter (see this link) and a HDMI-DVI cable. my problem: whenever i plug the DVI-part of the cable to my gfx card and the HDMI-part of the cable to the HDMI-port on the monitor, the screen doesn't appear. it just says "no video signal" on the screen... but when i hook the HDMI-part of the cable to the HDMI-DVI converter and plug the converter to the DVI-port on the monitor, the screen appears with no probs!
why cannot i get a video signal when i connect the cable directly to the HDMI-port on the monitor? what am i doing wrong?
