Hey guys, so I want to buy some headphones for under $30. I will use it while on the computer for gaming/videos/music/etc. I usually use the headphones that my mp3 players come with, so I am guessing that my standards are low. I have come down to two choices:

    Sennheiser hd201

    Koss KSC75

I must admit that I do not enjoy the headphones that go directly into my ears, the ones that look like ear plugs. I would like to avoid them at all costs, although I want to buy a nice but cheap pair for my little sister asap :)

Opinions please! Also, feel free to suggest anything else that you think may be better :) Thanks in advance :)

sennheiser have some great ones, although i'm not sure about your price range. I used to own a pair of HD-202's, they were great.

I had the HD201's and HD202's and the HD202's are the best headphones I have gotten for under 50 dollars, they have very good build quality and sound very good as well, they compete with headphones that I have bought for nearly 100 dollars.

very good headphones, and the HD202's aren't far off

those koss though, im not that sure, most of the koss headphones I have bought have had a rickety feel to them.

    stay away from ebay though,

    Are you referring to these?

They seem to have better sound AND build quality, as opposed to the hd201's. Hmm..

Oops forgot to mention you :) Are they portable? Those are mighty big, having something smaller that'd be easier to carry around is something I'd like as well :(

they're somewhat large, but they come with a little cord thingy, to help make it more portable.
(the cord wraps around this thing, meaning you dont have to worry about 2 feet of trailing cords if you use them on an MP3 player)

For the price, the 201 you can't go wrong.

Though I usually use my HD280's or Sony MDR-V700DJs.

your not going to get much for $30 I would get the sennheiser hd201 over the hd202, the hd202 has muddy bass for the people that own logitech g and x series speakers know what i'm talking about. I would also get one of those zalman zm-mic that attach to the cable they are about $5-10 usd the mic is alright it's only 20hz frequency but good enough.

theres a reason they're cheaper, the 202s have a cheap feel to them and the earphones come off and will break eventually, thats what happened to my old ones, the 201s don't do that and have better isolation.

the reason why the 202's are more expensive is because they actually have BASS to them the 202's have better build quality not the other way around.

agreed. the 202's had almost overpowering bass, it was very strong - and they sure werent flimsy.

    do you mean

yes the 202s have too much bass but are flimsy as mussels said, they are connected by plastic ball joint and it breaks after a while

I own a pair of cyber snipa sonar 5.1 headset and it's amazing it does give you true 5.1 surround sound but the quality is never going to be there versus a pair of $100-300 stereo headphones because with a 5.1 channel headset or headphones they have to compromise quality for the drivers however being able to pin point sounds in-game has made these virtually priceless.

no. Mussels and I said the hd202 is more expensive because it has bass and the build quality is better if you look at sennheisers more expensive lineup you will notice the build characteristics are similar to the hd202. they do feel flimsy but are not.

well thats what you two think but I have had both and it gets really annoying when the HD202's earmuffs come off and you gotta hope you don't break that plastick ball and stick it back on

where is fredrick our headphone guru at a time like this

I had no trouble with the ball joints. Had mine for over a year before i sold them, and they were still intact then.

If you're willing to spend about $5 more you can get the JVC HA-RX700. Out of the two choices the hd201's are better

anything lower and your going to end up with build quality issues or technical problems. you want to save money? don't buy them because you will be wasting money. you either buy the sennheiser hd201 or nothing at all.

True. I actually ordered the hd202's last night, but I think that might have been a bad decision, based on various posts :X
