I also love the "thanks" feature. It encourages constructive-ness, because scientific (psychological) research shows that our brain cells do not respond to failure in the same way as it builds upon each attainment of success.

A different kind of research, although still a similar subject, on lab rats show how we can be so addicted to the "reward" system that we would literally starve ourselves just to satisfy that addiction!!! (Note: the punishment system only conditions the lab rats, like with electric shocks to keep them from grabbing muenster cheese, and is no where as effective as the reward system).

Im very late & I apologise as I havent been able to spend much time in the forum as i usually do. but welcome to TPU, there are already a few of your XS buddies lurking around these parts so you wont feel lonely. you'l find a lot of people from different forums - such as myself, a long time uber Guru veteran of Guru3D now defected to TPU since more or less the same thing was happening on XS was happening in Guru3D but on a much smaller scale but it was still sinking none the less & most of the more experienced people were either leaving, forced to leave or banned indefinitely by arguments/disputes caused by people who either just joined or were still new to the forum. a sad case of affairs to which I also fell victim to.

A guy was modifying my quotes to make it look like i was saying something I wasnt & he was literally twisting everything I said - admin came in & I was the one that got the banned for standing up for myself.

while the more experienced members were active there, it was great but new members started getting more & more immature which made the site lose its sense of community.

TPU in general is a much more relaxed forum & the mods & admins do a pretty good job of keeping the place clean. so you should enjoy your time here.

Well, I'm another refugee from XS' perma-bans to the news section.

I was on my 1300-ish post when this "Vapor" admin I never saw posting before, decided to ban me temporarily because I complained about a guy doing nVidia propaganda all the time.

Then I sent an educated e-mail to the XS staff explaining why I disagreed with that admin's actions and suggesting for him to be less trigger-friendly.

Result? They extended my ban without any explanation. I didn't care because I was on vacation the whole time.. but it showed their colors.

When the ban finally lifted (about 3 weeks later), I noticed I had been permanently banned from the news section, where I made about 95% of my posts.

There are no limits for some people's stupidity..
I then realized it's not me who is "unfit" to post in XS, it's that forum who doesn't deserve my participation.
Nonetheless, XS is already rotting away because of trigger-friendly moderation, the usual participants in the news section were all banned and now only a couple of users with a dozen of posts appear in it.

So I erased my cookies, cleaned the saved forms, deleted the XS links from all my browsers and here I am as a new settler.

This here seems a lot better, to be honest. The front site is actually updated with forum news, the familiar vBulletin seems recent and people seem nice

lol yeah good to have a few forum veterans around could use a few new guys to lift the place up a bit, a lot of the members ages ago seemed to leave us or come on less often

its a well run site with intelligent moderators willing to help even the most retarded situations
