System Name Idk
Processor Athlon II x4 Propus 620 @3.6ghz ~ 2.6ghz Stock
Motherboard MSI 890FXA-GD70
Cooling Cooler Master V8 with Arctic Silver 5 thermo paste
Memory 4gb DDR3 1600 ADATA
Video Card(s) Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 128-bit
Storage 1tb SATA Seagate ST31000340AS
Display(s) ht09 28" lcd 1080p 16:10 t.v
Case Antec 902
Audio Device(s) AC'97 hd
Power Supply Corsair 650TX
Software Windows 7
The 2 cards I am looking at are
Sapphire HD4850 1gb GDDR3 256-bit
Sapphire HD5750 1gb GDDR5 128-bit
Both cards are sold locally and are within my price range.

Looking at some benchmarks the 5750 doesn't seem to fall below 4850 in many tests, its either the same or 20fps higher on lower settings.

The HD5750 1gb GDDR5 128-bit looks promising on benchmarks. It takes less power too. But its also a mainstream card, and is 128-bit.
The HD4850 is 256-bit but only GDDR3.

What other advantages do each cards have over each other?

I was told that difference between GDDR3 and GDDR5 very small. I was also told that there is a considerable difference. I am not sure what to believe. Maybe someone can help me understand?

Thanks :respect:

Well i'll tell you my own experience , i had an PC 4850 1GB & swap for an Sap5750 1GB vapor-x ,wich wasn't sure at first because of the 128 bit but turn out that it's a bit faster then my previews 4850 (1600x1200 high 4xAA) & you also get Dx11 & eyefinity , anyhow i like it a lot

As for drivers the 9.12 are good for me so far

EDIT:One last thing about my 5750 it's overclock like madness....:rockout:

4850 is very cheap and that is just about the only advantage. 5750 is more expensive, oc's like a beast (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/HD_5750/33.html) slight futureproofing and generally good. Would go for 5750 for lower power consumption (which will pay the price premium, I did a rough calculation some time ago) if you use it for long enough.

I would see if you could step up.. I mean the HD5770 is only $155 Shipped at Newegg... its on par and in some cases outclasses a 4890...

And costs 50 dollars more than the 4850! I would rate 5770 better than 4870 but not 4890 strength.
