    Hi there everyone!
    (excuse my bad english)
I got a lot of questions, because i plan to upgrade my actual processor to a new one, i hope somebody around here, can help me to make a choice.

    my actual machine are:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ @ 2.7 GHZ
MSI K9AGM3 (BIOS Already Updated to support AM2+ CPU - Phenom X3 or X4)
    4Gb DDR2 - 800Mhz
ATI Radeon HD 3870 512Mb GDDR4 Oc Edition (MSI)
    Maxtor Sata II - 7200Rpm - 250GB
    Thermaltake PurePower 500W
    and other Stuff.

    I want to upgrade my Proc. to a AMD Phenom X3 8450 @ 2.1Ghz

    The Questions are:

    1. Its a significant upgrade from the X2 5200+ to X3 8450?
    2. What happens with Speed?? this change comes from 2.7Ghz to 2.1Ghz... Differences?? What is more important, more Cache or more clock Speed???
    3. My X2 is 65W, now, the X3 i plan to purchase is 95W!!!! that means more power supply power??? more heat from the proc.?? may i need to change my power supply??
    4. With this change, i see more boost on games like crysis or new ones that are really thougt and consumes a lot of CPU??

i plan to buy this Proc. and no better one, because my budget is limited. i dont get the money.

    Tnx!

Why not get the X3-720 if your board supports it.

Ditto, I have an X3 8650 running 2.7ghz and I have been as high as 3.01ghz, but have stability issues. Wasn't the great CPU I expected. The PII X3-720 O/C's like a monster and is one of the best deals on the market for new generation processors.

    1. Not really a "huge" difference, but you may notice a slight increase in processing power
    2. You will have 3 cores @ 2.1GHz over 2 @ 2.7GHz, but you can overclock you phenom to a higher clock speed.
    3. No need for a new PSU
    4. You may get ~5 FPS tops in Crysis, if even that. You may have to do some overclocking though to actually see a huge difference. But you will be able to play newer games with a slight, and I mean SLIGHT, chance of better frames

i would just go for a 8750 phenom its only like 30$ more just save your money, otherwise its not a effective upgrade

I'd say go for the X3 720. But if you can't afford that one then get the X3 710. You should have a noticeable difference in games and general load times if you get one of those.
