Help with drivers

Ok I am at work, and I have installed windows vista 64-bit ultimate on my bosses new HDD, why vista over 7? This is because that is what she already had and has got used to. But I can't get the drivers for the motherboard, It is a dell prebuilt so I went to dell to get the drivers, At work we have Hp's and the dell driver wasn't giving an option to save it just has an auto install feature. Please help me see past the smoke to what I am missing, I spoke , more like waited on hold, with dell to no avial!

The dell model is: inspiron D 518
OS: Vista ultimate 64-bit

Thanks for the link, but when I clicked it, it dosn't have any drivers there but links to other driver gathering websites that charge to use there services. So after combing the Internet for hours I have decided I'll make this less difficult on myself and I'll just got to microcenter and pick up an cheap NIC.

What mobo drivers do you need (chipset, sata/raid, processor)? As long as Windows has a generic driver installed I wouldn't be particularly worried.

Oh, that should be fairly trivial.

Go into the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and look for the unknown device. Then right-click->Properties->Details tab->Property: Hardware IDs. Then copy the longest one and put it in google. That way you can figure out exactly what the model is so you can get drivers form the manufacturers website.

My guess is it's a Realtek RTL81XX (PCIe) chip.

You could even open up the case and jot down the chip name. It should be near the ethernet port.

Thank you all for the help! although you were pretty fast to reply to me with help, I grew fustered and went to my local microcenter and picke up a trednet 10/100/1000 nic
