I know this isn't technically computer related, but I'm in need of some assistance.

Ok, so, earlier today, I turned on the TV to play some Gears of War, and noticed that there were black scan lines (?) running vertical across the left side of the screen. It was on every input, so it made me believe that it's something in the DLP engine of the TV. My roommate and I removed the lamp, and cleaned out the dust that we could get to, but there were still lines. I have some pictures to show you guys what I'm talking about. SO, if anyone could help, please let me know.

EDIT: There was a power surge last night/this morning, but the TV is on a high $$ surge protector, so I doubt that would be the case, but just thought I should post that as well.

Top left corner

If anyone has any suggestions aside from pulling the entire TV apart, I'm all ears.

Unplug tv and let it set over night, is may just be a glitch caused by that power surge. Also just because you paid good money for the surge protector doesn't mean its any good or not defective. Most serge protectors are realy crapy and you have to do some research to find the good one's My freind's with High end TV's (plasma/DLP) all have two surge protectors on them as reccomended by another freind at Best Buy. Also it's important to serge protect the cable/satalite connection also; as it is also affected by power surges.( I mean the actual cable/satalite cable from source to TV).

What I meant by high dollar was really that it was a quality surge protector as well... sorry for the confusion.

Anyways, we don't have a surge on the satellite cable, but it is not plugged directly into the TV, and our reciever appears to be fine, as well as our other components.

I have done some searching on google, and it appears that some other people have had the same problem, and it was recommended that there is a problem with the DMD (Digital Micromirror Device) chip overheating and malfunctioning, causing the lines. We'll see though when the support guy comes out.

The satalite/cable also uses electricity, this is why the input cable should be protected/isolated from the input to the TV. Not to mention LIGHTNING etc.

Sounds like you nailed it with the tech call, hope it's under warantee and don't cost you anything!! I think I would not mention the power surge!!
