Help with watercooling please.

Ordered there before, great guys. Just don't believe everything they say at first word.

Yeah i bought the top, some fittings and the tubing from them.
Freezing Hardware in Losser also sells much wc stuff.
They also have the top but i wanted the fittings they have at Highflow so i ordered separately.

Hi folks.

I was looking at the EK-NB S-MAX -Acetal nb waterblock because the northbridge on this board gets really hot. It's 65 Celsius when idle I wont even talk about load temps.

So i was thinking. Maybe i could get this nb block to.
Would this be possible with my parts that i have or would it be to much?
I can return the rad for a 3x120 or a better 2x120 if that is necessary.

Atm i have:

Apogee GT CPU Block.
Laing DDC 3.1 pump with XSPC Laing DDC top.
Black Ice GT Stealth Lite 240 radiator.
1/2'' tubing.
Mcres-Micro Reservoir.

Everything will be fitted with 1/2'' fittings.

I also would like to ask how much coolant i need for filling up my system?
I already have a 1L bottle of Innovatek Protect IP and a Primochill UV red dye bomb.
Should i buy another bottle or is 1L enough?

You should just be using distilled water and biocide.

Dye would be acceptable but that Protect IP is just going to be detrimental to your loops performance.

I use bottles of distilled water from Gamma/Kruidvat for about nothing a liter and I've added Feser corrosion blocker. Any anti-corrosion fluid will do, but the ones based on Ethylene Glycol seem most common and most effective. Couldn't find distilled water in the Karwei shops btw.

If you want colour, get them dye thingies, but you already have those.

In theory, distilled water cools best. Anything you add to it degrades its cooling capacity ever so slightly, but a corrosion blocker is necessary if you don't want to scrape off your blocks every few months, since distilled water is a very good base for corrosive reactions.

Only time you should even consider using any anti-corrosive agents is if your mixing metals, which you shouldn't be doing on the first place.

Unless you've got an all-copper pump, an all-copper block, all-copper fittings and an all-copper rad, I think you're mixing metals pretty fast...

Hmm, I see you have a point there. It might be a little paranoid for me to add corrosion blocker, but I'd rather be on the safe side.

I'm with ya on the no need for anything but distilled water Aspire.. I've had this loop up for about 9 months now, and only thing I've had is the dye bomb the last two months.. Distilled is the best around.

The first is incompatible with your motherboard.

Go for either the EK or the Swiftech MCW30 universal block.

It must be a block that is good for 1/2''. I read somewhere that some blocks cant handle the flow with 1/2''. Correct?

I found the Swiftech block on sale for €24. The EK is €34.
Do you know if there is much difference? And is it true what i wrote above.

its a great little Chipset Block If your extremely careful with it i don't recommend running 1/2"" hosing to it because of the strain on the chips.

As long as it has G 1/4" threads any block should be just fine with running 1/2" tubing.

The MCW30 is a rather simple design that allows for very high flow and should have a relatively negligible impact on the rest of your loop.

Very nice fittings, everything Bitspower makes is top notch.

Just make sure the radiator is tapped with G 1/4" holes.

I try VERY hard not to use 90 deg fittings if possible.
