Hi res monitors

I've been planning on upgrading my TFT to a U2711 (2560x1440) or similar. The U2711 is getting a bit long in the tooth... so I was expecting a new model already in 2012, and prices of the U2711 to drop well below €500. (They were €520 back in Jan/February).

But now I see prices climbing and the U2711 is at €600! Anyone know what is going on? Hi-res should be getting cheaper not more elusive! :pimp:

Come on! Give us what we want! Hi res IPS under €500

(and I dont mean resorting to grey-market imports from Taiwan)

Prices haven't moved a lot in years on the large monitors. Don't hold your breath.

Still, it is odd that prices have GONE UP 20% since Dec/Jan/Feb.

Even if IPS prices are slow to decrease, we don't want them going the other way!

Well... it is stopping me from getting 2560x1440. Perhaps I will be lucky and 4k screens will start coming out soon... even if at ludicrous prices... it will put pressure on the 27" ers

Doubtful. The high-end monitor market is professionals and enthusiasts who can either write off the expense or don't mind footing the bill.
4Ks will be crazy expensive for quite some time, and I doubt the 27-30" market will be effected at all.

I think that's what he meant. Though, you can buy "pixel perfect" versions for a $40 dollar premium and get some sort of extended warranty for thirty bucks more. Price would still be lower than any "mainstream" IPS high-res monitor.

Nice price on that Frogger, but according to the sale, I'm going to need a Korean "C" class plug and adapter to use it. 24V@5A is not a common input anwhere near me.

With the Yamakasi Q270 I got, the power brick is good for 110 - 240v. All you need is the North American cord to go from the brick to the wall.

With my crossover, I told the guy I lived in the usa, and he put everything in the box so that my monitor worked out of the box as soon as it arrived.

He shipped it to me from korea in three days, including the weekend!
