HighPoint Technologies, Inc., the industry's price-leader for SATA and SAS HBA and storage solutions, is now shipping the RocketCache 3240X8; the next-generation SSD caching solution for high-performance Mac and PC platforms.

Ordinary caching solutions limit performance gains to specific applications, restrict configurations to a single hard disk and SSD pair, or are exclusive to particular storage device. HighPoint's RocketCache allows you to create your own high-performance storage solution using off the shelf hard disks and SSDs. Capitalizing on HighPoint's industry-proven RAID technology, RocketCache HBA's can aggregate multiple SSDs and hard disks into single storage units, in order to maximize transfer speeds or data security.

    Why Settle for Ordinary?

RocketCache HBA's provide the tools PC enthusiasts need to take full advantage of SSD accelerated hard drive storage. Mix and match combinations of hard disks and SSDs as you see fit: double-up 2 hard disks with 2 SSDs for fast, high-security data storage, or link up to 3 SSDs to supercharge the read and write performance of your high-capacity hard drive.

    Customizable, Personalized Caching Solution

Select one of four selectable Caching Modes, and custom-tailor a storage solution that best matches your specific configuration. Link a single SSD with multiple hard disks to maximize data security and take full advantageof the SSD's superior transfer speeds, or aggregate transfer bandwidth by striping cache across multiple, inexpensive SSDs.

    RocketCache 3420X8 Controller - 4-Port SATA 6 Gb/s PCI-E 2.0 x8

The RocketCache 3240X8 HBA's 4 independent SATA 6 Gb/s ports are powered by a blazing fast PCI-Express 2.0 host interface, and has been optimized for today's fastest SSDs and hard disk drives. The RocketCache 3240X8 was designed for high-performance, Mac and PC platforms, is fully backwards compatible with PCI-E 1.0 x8 and x16 slots, and supports SATA hard disks and SSDs of any generation.

Coming Soon - RocketCache 3244X8: 4-Port External SSD RAID Caching HBA

    Availability

The RocketCache 3240X8 is now available from HighPoint's world-wide network of Distribution and Reseller channels.

Distribution Channels: ASI, D&H Distribution, MaLabs, Avnet

    E-Commerce Channels: Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, Amazon.UK, Newegg.com, B&H

Very cool. Thanks for the post.

Is anyone aware of the benefit of this over SSD caching on newer Intel boards?

No RAM chips of it's own, means using a regular SSD to act as a cache for a HDD is going to stretch wear. Make sure you get a SSD designed for caching... ie with significant over provisioning etc.

LSI has had this for a while now. They're on their second version too (CacheCade). Let's you use 1 or 2 SSDs to accelerate an array.

I know of at least one company that OEMs LSIs chip for their server RAID controllers and offers the CacheCade as a factory option.

What's the price range on this? LSI starts around $329 for 4 port SAS and goes up from there.

    LSI MegaRAID SATA/SAS 9260-4i 6Gb/s PCI-Express 2....
