HighPoint Technologies, Inc., the industry's price-leading manufacturer of host-to-target storage controllers, is now shipping the RocketRAID 2782 32-port PCI-Express Gen 2 RAID HBA. With an MSRP of $849 US, the RocketRAID 2782 reduces costs by as much as 50% over comparable RAID HBA’s.

No other manufacturer delivers high-density Host RAID storage solutions with 32-dedicated SAS 6Gb/s ports. Comparable HBA’s only offer up to 24 ports, and require sacrificing one or more internal Mini-SAS ports in order to utilize the external connectors. The RR2782’s defines no-compromise, high-connectivity – all 32 ports are available at all times, in any combination.

HighPoint name calls for some nostalgia.

I think its one of the first boards that featured an integrated RAID Controller (HighPoint).

    8-port HardRAID for 137$?

    Must be lacking RAID 5.

EDIT: No, it supports RAID 5. Wow, what's the catch?

I'm wondering the same. It's just "too good to be true". I think it has no cache, I couldn't find any information about it anywhere.
And is this some sort of software RAID or is it proper hardware RAID controller?

What's with the weird numbers there.
I don't get it: 8 SAS RAID 5 sequential write 667MB/s vs 22MB/s

    I'm still confused.

The LSi 9211/9240-8i are priced at 300-350$ and also have no cache.

I had to buy a Perc 5/i (for 89$), but now I'm stuck with 8484 connectors.

This thing is sweet, and the price is insane.

I run several Highpoint controllers and I've always been happy with them. And they always seem to offer a great value for the money.
