I had a HDD screw up and all my games were on the second HDD.

All went fine till I went to install Gears of war off the CD and It's showing I have the game but I don't.

The game was wiped but is still showing in the add/remove programs on my C: disk

But when I goto load it off the disk drive It prompts me to UN-install it and when I do I end up with an error MSG.

Question: how do I delete whats left of the game so I can re-install it?

I guess that file is missing. You might have to go in balls deep into windows to remove all the hidden files/reg entries. Perhaps CrapCleaner can help

Yup did all you guys suggested but still a no go.
I dug and dug and still its a no go. I think a clean is install is in order. It'll probably be better now sense I stripped a lot of stuff outa the reg.

If you use Revo as suggested, which I've used for some time now, you have to make sure you use it's scan button to look for leftover bits after the prog uninstalls. If there's ever a case where you don't see the executable in Revo's list, you can also use Hunter mode. Just click the round scope icon in the upper left. It remains onscreen while Revo goes off screen. You then drag it over the prog's exe, or folder if there's no exe. In this mode you need to manually add the target path and name of prog or folder before using it.

For any files or folders that may not delete, there is a tool called Unlocker, which is free and works quite well from within the Windows shell.

You might just want to try this though...http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...ar-error/aed569c9-69f3-4f3f-9f26-0a0584aed1a5

The devs shouldn't have made such a terrible installer. If poking through the registry didn't work, I was going to suggest DBAN.

LOL, that's actually method 2 of what I linked to above, and the user said it fixed his problem.

Yep, it is.
I have used it before for some uninstall problem I had; and, I kept the info in my reference DB.
It is a common problem, usually, with registry corruption. Mine happened after an update.
I put it off to solar activity.

Do you just say things to say things?

Kursah (the post right above yours) just said the same thing before you did.
Are you stealing Kursah's thunder?
I understand there is a time difference and all, but it seems like you do that with every post you make on here.
Geez already, that gets old.

Never mind that it wasn't the method that worked and he ended up thanking a person that posted a working method that had already been posted. Point being backseat moderating can and usually does get off the point and out of hand.

Suffice it to say the problem is solved, OK? You can't expect public forums to go as you expect. Best case scenario is the problem is solved within a dozen posts so everyone can move on with their everyday lives.
