Hi, I'm planning on selling my Desktop PC 'cause I'm needing a laptop.

How much do you think is worth it?

Nah, you can get a cheap pre-built that has more power than this build.

Not for that CPU. That CPU used is probably worth 150-200 dollars. It's the most expensive part in that entire machine. You can still buy it new for something like 270 USD so saying 200 for the entire machine might be a stretch. I think 300 makes sense but would allow haggling down to 275 but, personally I wouldn't go lower. I personally would like to have such hardware for a new gateway server but, I'm not exactly in the market for new hardware right now.

If you've been on Slickdeals lately, there are pre-built desktop PCs from HP and Dell getting tons of thumbs up and frontpage status for $700 when they include an i7-4790, 8GB RAM, low-end GeForce video card like yours, and 1TB'ish hard drive.

Considering this is used I'd say you could safely sell it for $450, and advertise that with the 450W power supply, you could power a GTX 970 to turn it into a fully fledged gaming PC for $750 total with the Xeon's i7-4790-like CPU performance. (assuming you have at least 8GB RAM.)

You're right. Take the $250 CPU, then add the case, power supply, RAM, SSD, mobo and video card -- also DVD, keyboard and mouse -- and you're looking at (30+30+40+70+50+40+15+20) $545. Taking a little off the top for being used, you're sitting at the $450 mark.

After a little searching, the Rosewill 450W PSU is built by SuperFlower and rated very highly so I would not sell yourself short by pricing this below $450 USD. Added in mobo price since I forgot to add that.

its Not what its Worth...or what it Costs/Sells for..its what Someone will buy it for. Take a new car for instance...You buy it for $25,000 the SECOND you drive it off the lot, it can devalue anywhere from $3,000 to $7,000. Depending on who is buying it(KellyBB aside), and how they view "used" cars. The Same applies for PC's. The second the packages are opened,Or the PC is turned on, they qualify as NOT new, and therefore are devalued. I personally would part it, since your likely to get more for the parts that way, but You didnt mention how old it was(what is the Oldest components power on hours). If its a year, 50% value is reasonable(thats the truth).I dont like it anymore than anyone else, but it is the truth. I dont know what Your parts sell for new, but Half of they're NIB price is a good starting point for anything near a year old.

You could just sell them in parts rather than a whole unit. There is a strong chance of a higher prices selling each individually. Finding someone to take it might be problem though.

Most how the time how high the price you go depends on how you negotiate and also how much the buyer is willing to pay.

And remember e bay takes 10%

You might be able to trade for a laptop and sale the costs of selling

It really depends. It is worth as much as someone will pay you, but my estimate is between 425-475 dollars. I would ask 475 and see what happens but would not sell it under 425.

You are better off and more likely to sell if you part it out and sell the individual pieces. Waiting for someone willing to pay for a full system that is exactly what they "need", well....you are likely to wait quite awhile and will most likely have to keep lowering the price.

As someone who recently (earlier this year) assembled a similarly-spec'd rig (better GPU, more ram though) with used parts, I can attest to both the value and the quality of the OP's CPU, cooler and ram. I spent approximately $700 USD on it, not counting the SSDs, fans and miscellaneous things like cables, connectors and what not that I already owned from previous builds.

And YES, the CPU did cost me $225 back then , but it's been ROCKing solid and stable since day 1 with nerryanottaproblemo whatsoever...

So I would say list it whole for $500-ish USD and see what happens, or list the parts to total up to about $650 USD. One one hand, its easier & looks better to offer a discount for buying it whole as opposed to parting though, but getting someone to part with $50-150 is usually easier than getting them to fork out $450-500 all at once.... but YMMV too....
