I know this is kinda of a silly question, but i just wanted to know this in a more detailed version because im upgrading to one quite soon...
And if you could be so kind to say something like, it's 50% stronger or something not just "it's alot stronger" Or like "it's equivalent to 3 gtx 660" Cause i really want to get the idea of what i can expect :p

Thanks alot! :D

I got one, upgraded from a 660ti, my estimates put it around 2.25x stronger at the least. After overclock it's easily 2.5x+ faster than my 660ti was though. I could only imagine from a 660 how much you would be looking at overall. Especially if you're gaming over 1080p, 660ti and below were a bit memory bottlenecked.

Well if you want you could run some benchmarks on your 660 now and do the same on the 970 and compare, and show us the results maybe :D

If i was upgrading right now i would not consider any thing but a 970 as an option.

From my interpretation and with the information I know of graphics cards a GTX 970 is at least x2 more powerful that a GTX 660, but as the GTX 970 is two generations newer in technology than a GTX 660 and the GTX 970 is almost certainly a lot more than x2 more powerful and the GTX 970 is also more efficient too on performance per watt than the GTX 660.

I did check some reviews before coming to this conclusion and I also found that the GTX 970 does not use a lot more power than a GTX 660 for the same type of tasks during use and that in some cases the power consumption from a GTX 970 can be less than that of the GTX 660 during the same task.

As well as being more powerful and efficient than the GTX 660, the GTX 970 also has newer technologies which the two generation old GTX 660 doesn't have which will be significant when using newer display panels such as those with 4k Resolution for example.

Conclusion is that there would be a significant performance gain from upgrading from a GTX 660 to a GTX 970 and there would be more benefits too than just performance alone.
Also upgrading from a two generation old graphics card (GTX 660) that was classified as mid-range from it's time of release to a current generation graphics card (GTX 970) which is classified as high-end would not be inefficient in terms of cost and for the amount use the GTX 660 has been put through.

It would be best to look through reviews to determine which graphics card you would prefer the most and from reviews I find that the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming graphics card is one of the better ones for overall build and performance, but there are other alternatives with the same features available too to choose from.

I was looking into buying the one form MSI, of about 360 euros...

You could if the information you know of the particular graphics card shows very little faults (in relation to reliability) and that it performs well too.

My preferences for liking the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming graphics card would be the large windforce x3 GPU cooler, the backplate and the general performance in comparison to others as well as that in that the G1's brand would match my motherboard for both main brand and sub brand.
Other preference I would mention is my current graphics card was made Gigabyte and is still functioning now, although it is of a reference design and I haven't modified it.

The preferences mentioned can help you choose the graphics card you want if you also have similar preferences such as those.

You've probably already figured this out, but the GTX 970 is roughly 3x as strong as a 660.
