Can you put together a very nice Core i7 rig for just below $2,000?

Changed subjects/topics. Threads need a direction. Can you please tell me the point of this thread? First you're asking how much something will cost when you already know, give some spiel on overclocking, then who knows.. So, either get to the point or I'm shutting this down because other members are getting annoyed.

Are you u2konline on another account?

No. Besides I like u2konline, while much of what he says gets lost to stupid rhetoric from other members, he makes many valid points.

Oh come on Erocker your nuttier than a squirrel turd if you think that!

Lol, no I'm serious. Very few understand the low-end computing enthusiast and shopping locally.

Overclocking can completely destroy your computer if the slightest mistake is made. Not to mention the entire warranty on your PC goes down the drain the very instant you make any changes to the speed in BIOS.

I have absolutely zero overclocking experience. I only a few months ago discovered how to enter the BIOS. I would end up really screwing things up if I attempted to do so. costing Hundreds of dollars to fix.

Overclocking is like trying to move a toothpick through a straw without hitting any of the edges. The slightest mistake can destroy your whole rig, or possibly even cause a fire. I don't have a degree in computer science or electronic engineering.

And overclocking ANY CPU past 3.8 GHz demands water cooling.

/FACEPALM... WAIT, he's trolling right? Should I report him for trolling? or is he serious?

NO, he's trolling.

MB you can ether tell us what the PC will be used for so we can design it to those specs or you can GTFO. I will contact a mod

For someone who just learned to get into the BIOS and has zero oc experience your probably better not OC'ing right away.

However there are a lot of great guides on this forum to help you.

Believe it or not a lot of Motherboard Manufactures, Video Card Manufactures, Ram manufactures, encourage overclocking. IF they didn't want you to OC the board they would lock those features requiring you to hard mod the hardware...which is correct you could fry it, and would 100% void your warranty.

There is no RAM spec for DDR3 2000Mhz...but they make it. You have to OC to get it there, and they WANT you to do that.

ATI Catalyst allows you to adjust your GPU and Memory on video card, this software is provided by ATI.

AMD Black Edition..Unlocked Multi,,,INtel Extreme Unlocked...this wasn't an accident. They want you to OC it..and you pay for that ability.

These are just a few examples for the many ways hardware can be overclocked within the manufactures specs.

None of these get their warranties voided by overclocking within there defined limits. Just takes a little reading, and asking questions. :toast:

Maybe...Or maybe he is very young and inexperienced. Lets not jump to conclusions and throw the guy under the buss.

I don't think young and inexperienced can explain his knack for completely disregarding our advice and blatantly ignoring our questions.

I could build an AMD gaming rig, or a Core i7 gaming rig for just a few Hundred dollars extra. Both under $2,000.

Off-topic, but even though I sometimes to get into arguments with u2k, I still like the guy... I remember, once, I tried to stop the trolling, and quickly stopped trying before I got into a big mess

Lets not be too aggressive here now, He's new to this stuff, severely misinformed, and septic, so it is normal that he needs convincing...

As for the rig, would you like to have a monitor? are you willing to OC, at least a little? Will you upgrade later or are you the type that doesn't upgrade much once you have your rig?

When I find time, I will put the right items together...

Also, may I have your zip code, or city + state so I can better optimize the build and the cost please?
