i know there are BIOS flash tools for this, but i can't figure out where to download them. or how to use them even if i did find them. the only thing i want to change it the max power target. currently the BIOS limits it to 109%. i'd like to be able to set it to 115%. beyond that it would be pointless as the card will start artifacting and doing all sorts of ugly things.

any clues?

weird .... my Asus 980 Poseidon Platinum max power limit is 125% from base (i use MSI Afterburner +37mV +125% 91° TL +200/+300) did they limit the Ti to 109?

@HammerON might be able to tell (he has a EVGA 980Ti Classified)

i'm talking about the 980 Ti. not the 980. m GTX 980 cards that i had before also had a max power target of 125%.

none of my 980 Tis ever went above 78*C, so heat shouldn't be holding me back.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Any reason you need to risk your card(s) to do this? YOu have two 980Ti's and unless you are running 4K, there isn't a need to bios flash them...

Agreed, I wouldn't risk a grand's worth of cards like this.

it was late. i was tired. i was reading one thing but the gerbil spinning the wheel upstairs was processing something else. sorry.

i actually have 3 GTX 980 Tis. this is an MSI 980Ti Gaming LE ("lite edition") card I have in another system. any why not. i want to see what this card can do

this is what i managed so far: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/8073696

What clocks are you getting? If it's near or above 1500 - no point flashing a higher power limit, voltage will hold you back. Temps above 60 also start to annoy the maxwell core, more voltage just creates more heat so you'll want a *ahem* higher asic so there is lower voltage for a specific clock, this making less heat. A higher power limit wont do much.

i get 1298 core clock, 1387 boost clock. max boost registers at 1520MHz when benching. memory is set to +400MHz. i can still increase the voltage, but that's not helping. my system power draw, measured by a UPS, bounces back and forth between 396W and 400W. gigabyte OC guru allows for a +.106V offset on this card but I run just fine with a .069V offset. so voltage is probably not holding me back. which is why i want to try a higher power target. temps max out at 81*C.

without messing with voltage in OC guru, i can get 1223MHz core but only add 65MHz to the memory. that part got me stomped.

ASIC score is 67.5%. i also have an EVGA GTX 980 Ti SC in another machine with an 83% ASIC. that card can't go past 1250MHz core no matter what I try. Also runs hotter. but the memory gets +500 easy on that card. go figure

You need a bios flashing tool similar to Kepler bios tweaker and change it there..

1. export current bios with gpu-z or nvflash (save it somewhere safe, it will be your only original rom)
2. open that rom in Maxwell bios tweaker
3. change power limit by power table options (last value)

e.g. GK110, but should be same by GM200

4. flash new modded bios with nvflash

4.1 using nvflash

Flash your bios with: nvflash -f filename.rom or nvflash filename.rom

To do that "easy" copy nvflash directory to c: and name the folder to something easy. e.g. NV, also copy inside your modded bios.

now open CMD - command prompt (run as admin) and now navigate back to c:\NV folder

cd.., cd.., until you see only c:\,
now enter cd NV

c:\NV\nvflash -f bios.rom (e.g. your modded lets name it GM200-125%.rom)

so c:\NV\nvflash -f GM200-125%.rom,
press enter and wait until it finishes flashing

5. reboot, that's it. If you want to revert back to stock, repeat 4.1 but this time with e.g. stock GM200.rom

"BIOS Cert 2.0 Verification Error, update aborted" :(

EDIT: nevermind. found the patched version of nvflash

EDIT2: THANK YOU! you sir are a scholar and gentleman. the "maxwell BIOS weaker" was exactly what I needed but when I googled for it, I couldn't find it because I didn't know what it was called exactly. i searched for "maxwell bios editor" and stuff like that and just never came across it.

for the maxwell BIOS the power target field was in the middle of that list, not at the bottom like it was for you. i increased it to 115% in the BIOS but gigabyte OC guru only allowed 114, which is enough i think. i also found the field to edit the maximum voltage offset in the BIOS, but I'm not touching that since I'm still only using 69mV offset from the available 87mV. going to 87mV sometimes causes random stutters. which is something I don't want. stutters were the reason I returned my Fury X.

in any case, my firestrike GPU score (not overall score) went up by nearly 500 points. system power draw went up from 400W to ~430W, So i know it's working. temps never passed 81*C with a completely silent fan profile. I'm sure that with a slightly audible fan profile I can get it down to 75*C. i'm not sure what my actual Max Boost speed is now. i'll have to figure that out later, but it's definitely faster. I was also able to add 60MHz to my memory clock. something that would have cause my card to crash in the past.

I'm trying to flash my bios to get higher power limit and I stumbled opon this thread here on the forum. I also get the error
"BIOS Cert 2.0 Verification Error, update aborted". You wrote that you fixed it with a patched nvflash. Where exactly did you find that?

Okey. But this is the one I've been using. NVFLash certificate checks bypassed v5.236:

It says it bypasses the checks but why didn't it do that for me?
