answer is yes, fire it in there and let there be physx
sucessfully tested on a 5970 with a 8800GT, but did encounter problem's with having 2 displays connect to my 5970, it would change the res of my main monitor to 1680x1050 when is was set to 1920x1080.
maybe because my 2nd monitor can only do 1680x1050
nice computer techy!! you used two monitors to do this or the kinda virtual monitor the patch creates?
i run 2 monitors day to day now and when i tried setting this all up it just wouldnt work properly until i disabled and unplugged my second display, went up about 6k points in vantage so i forgive you
will there be made updates for this mod for future versions of PhysX? ^^
I would think so since there seems to be a large community of people wanting the physx ability with their ATI graphics card. I've been reading/following PhysXinfo since I picked up the 9800GT for physx. Alot of info can be found there and check out the games list.
I forgot some screenshots I sniped at home this weekend just to show everyone how well brandonwh64 instructions work. At first I wasn't that impressed because Dark Void kept crashing but I found the problem..the 9800's fan was catching on the back of my tv tuner card making the 9800GT run at 102 Celcius(can we say hot!!)
yeah that's not healthy for your card
i just ordered a Sapphire Radeon HD5770 VaptorX card today and i am thinking about saving my Albatron GeForce 8800GT-512X for PhysX i had even read today that Mafia 2 should have PhysX and i hope that game will be awesome ^^
Physxinfo has some news on MafiaII, http://physxinfo.com/news/2514/mafia-ii-first-physx-trailer/
Here is some benchmarks after setting up the 9800GT as physx with the 5870:
i have a question : when we set up a physx card with ati will this improve general performance like 3dmark and all games ? or the job of the second card will just be concentrated on physx ?
only games that use physx and 3dmark vantage
and the power consumption ot the physx card will reduced in comparison with normal consumption if it's set as primary card in both idle/and charge ? cause am planning to buy a 9800GT (thats a little hungry)
If you're buying a new graphics card, get a 9800GT Green Edition. You won't miss the extra power and it won't consume more than ~75W.
OK ive done testing with the new 10.4 preview drivers from ATI and they still work with the physx patch as long as you continue to use the nvidia 196.21 driver for you physx card.
hey the neighbours kid has a e-GeForce 8800 GTS and asking $30.00 I know you guys are saying 9800gt, is this 8800gts not a good choice then?
is it a G80 version? and what size if it is cause they came in 320mb and 640mb versions. if its a G92 then they were 512mb
640mb is what he emailed me,
ok thats a good deal for that card! i would pick it up regardless on what you use it for but it should be fine for physx
he also stated that it was a superclocked version? so go for it then?
YES get it! i had two of those at one time in SLI and they were AWESOME!
That price is to low.. It should be worth at least $50.
Do him a favor and give him $40, it'll still be a steal for you
96 shaders is perfectly fine for PhysX, AFAIK.
They have 112 shaders and thats even better!
those are actually some of the best physx cards, you want the highest amount of rop's and the 320bit mem makes them awesome too. Get that card for sure.
thanks guys. I already emailed him back! told him to hold it
when you done with it, you can pass it on to me
