HTPC budget system

I am looking to do a 'budget' HTPC. The key on this one is budget, as low as we can keep it. I blew my wad doing a birthday build for a friends b-day, so I got about $400 to do this with. Its life will consist of crunching, web browsing and movies. This is my first HTPC build so advice welcomed.
I have GPU, memory and OS already.
GPU - Asus 4830
Memory - OCZ platinum DDR2 800MHz
OS - Win 7 32bit

looks nice but I would get the Gigabyte 740g

its a hell of a board and your going to use a GPU so the slower onboard won't matter.

One more thing. I would highly recommend some kind of cooling on the MOFETS if you get the gigabyte board.(some cheap ramsinks would do the job) that is the only problem i had with it is the mosfets would get toasty.

I was just looking at that board. Ive never used a 740 board. Any performance drops from the 785 to the 740? I guess it wouldnt matter, its just a HTPC not a gamer.

Heatsink for the CPU? Blu-Ray drive perhaps?

I had no problems with mine. It was FASTER in some CPU benchmarks then my 790gx was :wtf:

from what i have seen of that board its great and it clocks good even has alot of BIOS options for overclocking. like i said the only drawback i found was the mosfets get HOT and could really use some cooling.

Since your going to use an HD4830 you really won't need the onboard function to be as great.

that does look like a cool case... Looks like it would be great for a watercooled i7 :rolleyes:

decent case sucks for cooling but if your only going to be running that X2 then you won't have a problem

740G has NO blu-ray decoding, ha NO dual steam so its basicly a 690G

get a 785G, and meybe take a 240e (uses lower power than 240)

he said he will be using a 4830 so i don't see the point in a 785
