Yesterday afternoon I lost all connection. When I looked in network connection it states

    Network unavailable

The dependency service or group failed to start.

So far I've tried to netsh winsock reset

    I've reinstalled motherboard drivers.

The weird thing is I can get a IP and a subnet mask but no default gateway.

I've reset my cable modem. I've changed the cat5 cable.

I did have a virus of some kind and I have a feeling I deleted something by accident using hijackthis.

I'm currently using a old hdd with a fresh load of XP sp3 on it and I have no issues.

I read that its possible that I deleted or currupted my nlavc.dll and that could be causing the issue.

I also looked through my services and most network services that are not started error out with a error that pertains to a service that isnt started or doesnt exist.

I dont have a recovery option other than a reinstall of vista. Problem I dont have my vista disk anymore. It was damaged while moving.

Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I wish I could. I used v lite for my intial install and its tweak quite a bit. So I removed a lot of features. I really have no problems reformatting and reinstalling I just feel more comfortable fixing the issue. It has me completely stumped :(

I was still unable to fix the issue. So I just set the drive aside. Thank you for all your help. I will update if I fix the issue.
