And what about a videogame more similar to a book than a movie?.
I see what you did there. But i can't think of such game....the walking dead had some moments. Did not make me cry. And hers why...writing this, it kinda came to me.
In a video game, there is the interaction element. You are on the edge of your seat , living the moment, immersing yourself in the experience, going through the pain or the joy of the character (just like in a movie)...but you are waiting to do something. At some point your gonna start shooting,getting back into the action. You disconnect from the emotions. The the cutscene is over,that's it. Enough to make me feel emotional sometimes (i remember Leliana's song dragon age origins). Sure it's so emotional,but after the song is over i just remember i got a new item in my inventory. So i open inv. and continue to play. The feels are gone.
In a movie. You don't interact. You stay there and the movie takes you , and you just get deeper and deeper into the feeling. Titanic 1997, it was one sensitive moment after another when the ship is sinking (the soundtrack helps a lot). And then Jack Dawson (leonardo) goes to the bottom of the Atlantic.
I think the movie,is one huge cutscene, that immerses you completely, and you don't worry about interaction. you just let go.
