sounds good ill see if i can find it around someware...lol look at my cpu-z link....i was able to get a higher clock with my proc...it isnt stable at all because im on 200mhz ddr2 samsung mem with no HS so it cant take it but its nice to know the proc can do it.

so get some new ram everyone here is selling it cheap and local stores have had ocz 1066 reapers as low as $40 for 2x1gb

this is an example im sure you could just use 1200mhz ram iv looked at reveiws and performace charts and sli ram like xfire ram is just a joke....its the same stuff with a cool heatspreader and the only reason they marketed sli ready ram was imo because it used ot be pretty xpensive you payed a premium for those HS but now meh theirs better ofr the same price....so im sure any ram will do. but my ram isnt sli certified its just some OCZ vista upgrade stuff....2x 2gb

go for it...sounds good keep in mind though 4x 1gig sticks may make ocing harder...but 2x 2gb might 2 but having only 2 evenyl sized sticks is better so it all depends on the mem controller and NB....so if you have a board thats has a good chipset 2x 2gb might be your way to go. just an idea.

cheers man, any idea how the 680i handles the oc-ing? its got a very extensive set of options in bios, the most ive ever had on a board, and so far with 667 ram it has taken everything ive thrown at it.

the only problem ive had with the 680i is NB heat, but a thermaltake Extreme spirit 2 solved that.

well the generl rule of thumb is based on FSB i mean i can push my FSB to about 315 stabaly...but with my 4 gigs in i can only push 285 or so so as long as you can clock high odds are if your NB CANT take it you may loose 20mhz or so fsb..but since your intel id asume youll be fine because intel NB seem to be able to take more of a beating than AMD ones because of the arc...so i think youll be safe as long as its some pretty fast ram and you have decent divider options just incase.

i have a feeling the NB can take a higher oc now with the enw cooler, it really was burning to the touch, there is 1.4-5-ish volts going thru it after all, and the same on the cpu.... thats why i want a G0 Q6600

ooh yeah i heard vista cuts the performance a bit, how does 64-bit treat you, had any driver or application issues? or any noticeable gains over 32-bit?

um no major application problems at all actually vista is a lil easier actually just about as easy as xp x64 everything works...but iv noticed a great improvement in bandwidth and fluidness..and my scores in xp x64 were higher than xp 32 i had tested that for about 3 hours b4 i reinstalled x64 so i didnt mention it....but since it recognizes all my ram programs boot faster things install quicker multi tasking is almost as good as AMD says on their retail dual core boxes too all in all im rpetty pleased with the experiance and being one of the ppl who beta tested this OS in its early form i can tell you alot of things have matured :)

mmm i really want to hit 4gb ram and quad core before i go vista..... i mean at least 4gb ram ..... quad isn't necessary but 4gb of ram is what i would consider a happy/safe minimum for what i need to get out of vista.

oh and silly question i guess but do the old 32-bit apps work?

flawlessly for the most part...you install dx 9 and the way dx 10 is with visa you never loose dx 10 but dx 9 is their so everything works...some times a prog will give you a missing random.dll but you just google the .dll and downlaod it from like freedllfiles.com or something and copy them to the progs directory and they fire right up...and thats only with a few progs....other than that the 32bit emulator vista has runs great theirs no performace loss in any of my games. i may go ahead and try installing sp1 we shall see.

k im re downloading sp1 from microsift ill re bench tomarrow im beat and it will take like 10min to downlaod and 20 to install

so hard to spell when your this tired
