I-O Data unveiled its latest PC display, the LCD-AD202XW-P. This 20-inch CCFL-illuminated widescreen uses a hardened glass panel that is resistant to scratches and fingerprints while continuing to have a glossy surface. With an aspect ratio of 16:9, the panel features a native resolution of 1600x900 pixels, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and response time of 5 ms. It takes input from DVI and D-Sub connectors. Other features include an Eco Mode that can bring about power savings of up to 42%; and 1W stereo speakers. Backed by a 3 year warranty, the I-O Data LCD-AD202XW-P is priced at $495.

At that price, it better be using Gorilla glass.

Hardened glass? What's the point of that exactly?

My monitor has no glass at all, and I prefer it wholeheartedly.

I can't think of anything that would be thwarted by the glass but wouldn't leave a mark that would make using the monitor afterwards painstaking.

Actually, I can't think of anything that would be thwarted by the glass..

It's meant for the angry gamers who turn their mouse and keyboard into projectiles after they get shot in CoD

I always hated ppl sticking fingers into screen so hard that LCD started turning into rainbow (which is a lot of pressure). Also it's all smudged by skin grease and sweat when they do that. Yuck.
Also such screens are useful for public places like public libraries, info terminals etc where you just need screen durability because you never know which idiot will physically abuse the screen.

I like a glass display but too pricey, its not 1920x1200or1080, and its too small

judging by the specs looks to an IPS panel, that should be decent. i don't like 16:9 aspect though...

CCFL? Considering a majority of LCD screens use LED backlighting now, it seems outdated. I also hate when the CCFL tubes wear out and go black at the edges, or make a yellow or pink hue on the screen.

some CCFL displays have deeper black levels and LED turn yellow when they age too.

The next time you read dumb comments in your Youtube thread, you can go ahead and punch the monitor.
