I've read a lot of ppl with troubles with their 2x gtx 690 sli escalation but didnt find any solution jet :( Please help! How did u solve your problems with ur 2 x gtx 690 quadsli scalation problems? my email es cmgver[at]gmail

My quadsli doesnt work with many games, i have drastically drops of FPS from 130 to 10 in games like battlefield 4 and i cannot use sorround 3 screens in many games too. I discover by accident that when i use no SLI configuration then it works better with no FPS drops, so is not the RAM or CPU.

I bought the two gtx 690 for 3 screen sorround rig, in that moment i had three 27' cinemadisplays but the performance was horrible, i thought it was not possible, but now i have only one screen and the same problems persist :/

My rig is:
2 x 690
mb asus rampage IV extreme
cpu 3930k
4 x 4 gb Tridentx G Skill
2 x 128 gb ocz vertex 3 RAID 0
1 x 4 tb western digital caviar black
monitor Asus swift PG278Q with g-sync
windows 8.1 64 bits

bios firmware in my 690s are: 80.04.1E.00.90 80.04.1E.00.91

i updated the ASUS RAMPAGE IV EXTREME to the latest bios firmware 4901

Thanks a lot! and i will appreciate any clue of how to solve my problem.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
You dont....anything above tri SLI scales horribly. A better question is, why the hell are you running two 690's in the first place when one would suffice for that setup (a single monitor).

Part of the problem is a lack of vram (2GB) for that resolution... For that res, and especially 3 monitors and its res, you will be looking at a 3GB+ card for best results.

The awnser is how badly quad SLI works. It's super buggy. There is no real fix for it. Also, he is right. The 2GB VRAM might be an issue at high resolution.

I would scrap those cards and get something more appropriate for the job... Something that isn't as poorly scaling and buggy as quad SLI/CFx...

If you are truly going 3x 1440p monitors, you will want 2 290s/290Xs as the vram used there will breach 3GB on several current titles. If you are sticking with one monitor now, grab a 290/290x/780/780ti and call it a day. Dont make more headaches for your self. ;)

PS - I had experience with 2 690's... its quad SLI scaling is terrible when it even works.

buddy i installed a whole watercooling rig over the machine and the 2 gtxs 690 :/ the problem is not only the water and to disarm everything, is the money for the GPU water blocks, backplates..... is really hard to find somebody who buys it...... and what if the problem persists in this motherboard....

Most people say anything above 2 is trash. I'm glad you spread the truth. I'm about to dabble in tri crossfire and it should scale nicely. It's that way for either camp.

The problem is not the motherboard.

The problem is trying to quad SLI and expecting meaningful results with four GPU's on a 2GB VRAM. My GTX 770 (single) slows down in some games because of 2GB. And you try to run 4x the GPU power on that very same memory size that also has to be mirrored across FOUR cards. That introduces latency - shitloads of it.

The truth is nasty, but you just wasted a monumental amount of cash and have a horribly balanced system for gaming. Sell one 690 at least, and if you can also sell the second. The longer you wait, the less they sell for. You can sell them with the LC solution.

Sell those bastards and get to 980s. Much less hassle less power less heat. Not much of a perf difference with SLi 970 being par with Titan Z that is better than one of your cards. I would say the Sli 980 would be like 3 GPUs from 4 perf wise or maybe more due to scaling. You have to admit a financial loss though, no way to sell the 690 for 500$ to almost break even.

Agreed...

I know you bought this 'whole watercooling rig over the machine and the two GTX 690s', but the reality is you borked on the purchase and it needs to be corrected. 2GB of vram isn't remotely enough to run surround (5760x1080) in the vast majority of titles. Sorry, but that is the whole truth.
