i need s-video what i can do?!
ahh sorry my bad, that's a bummer.... I don't see a way around it on a 5850 really.
with it's latest patch Battleforge became(meaning it's already available) the first DX11 game also pripyat http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?p=1576670#post1576670 and Dirt 2 will be launched by December and Alien v Predator is scheduled for early '10. Also the important thing is it's DX9/10/10.1 which even with immature driver is higher than GTX285 which is hotter and 100$ more
Well you could just get a 4870 1GB or a GTX260 216shader since the prices have gone down and save yourself a bunch of money, and still have much better performance.
With the money saved you could pocket it, or buy a nice new LCD(so next upgrade you will not need S-video).
no a better performance
Keep your old card for S-video based shinagins.
get an nvidia card that has one and use it for physx? that what im doing atleast. I need s-video to watch movies on my tv, my 8800gts will handle that and the physx.
I'm searching for a 5850 that comes with the DiRT 2 cupon.
Powercolor are offering Dirt2 with their cards.
Im pretty sure all the ones at newegg do. I just checked the sapphire and it does
so does the his card (i just posted the review)
zipzoomfly doesnt mention it on there HIS for sale, hopefully it does come with it. that will be awesome.
asus should have adjustable voltage... might be a good card to get
man, im lucky. the destroyed 4850 TOXIC isnt produced anymore, so i can shit on that heatwhore, and concentrate on this beauty. i got 130 euros back
sadly, they arent stocked in my shop. i guess i will have to wait ;-)
Use a low end card for s-video if youll not use Crossfire ,look here if youll use crossfire http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=88791
Right now all 5850 are reference cards (might even be BBA), and they all have voltage control jst like the Asus.
Just buy what ever brand that has the best deal.
THX all :] my screen is a 19 931B samsung its still worth to buy the 5850?
Its overkill for now yes, but the 5850 will hold up for a coupe of years.
It is still worth it. Question, what exactly did you need the S-Video for?
Just bought one hoping it will be here next week
wait... the GT300 comes out... the price war begins
its always the same... my radeon HD4890 came out and was £260.... i bought it... a few weeks later £180... now £140
I couldve had 2 for that price and crossfired if i waited
Wait what? 3.. 4 months? Not worth the wait.
nah... cant take that long...a month tops and the prices will drop nicely .... even if you bought now you'd wait a week or so for the shop to deliver due to low stock... so adding 3 more weeks makes a month... not that long really
besides they'll most likely bring out a 5890 soon to deal with the GT300 when that launches and that will hit the shelves at the same price as this and kick a lot more arse
when that happens the prices on the 5870 / 5850 will be a lot less... (if the 4870 / 4890 launch is anything to go by)
I dunno if you have money to throw around then go for it now... you wont be sorry, but if you can hold on for a few weeks you'll save a lot and can afford much better... whatever is cleverer in your opinion and depends on how badly your current gfx card is playing games
i believe, until the nvidia bunglers have readied theyre chip, ati has made the hd6000 generation. fermi will be NO conccurence to the 5800 series.not until half a year
Whatever they come out with should surly kickass. The waiting is going to be worth it.
