Ive been using my FS/WTB thread for a while now. I just keep my OP current and up to date. People respond very well to it. If you keep it "groomed" and up to date it can work well. Just my .02 cents. :toast:

As someone who moderates that forum, I have no problems with the way it is now. We currently have no problems with people excessively bumping or anything like that. The rules of the forum have been made more clear and as a result there have been much fewer threads that don't follow the rules. Things have been going well. This just seems like a lot of work for a very minor problem. The b/s/t forum is very lenient in some ways as you don't need a post count, and only need to wait 14 days to use it. This is great for those who haven't dealt online before and a good opportunity for them to get their foot in the door. We do have some strict rules as far as what is required as far as content of the thread, but I think this works very well and is unique. Most sales consist of different items, I don't think having particular hardware forums is necessary. The search feature works great as far a narrowing your search down to FS, FS/FT, WTB, etc. I would prefer as a member that TPU's B/S/T forum remains different from other websites.

yes. i like the way its run now but i am proposing a new idea. if it is never implemented that is fine by me but the idea is here and we are getting legitimate opinions on it.

something makes me think that if it was someone else that posted this thread some of the comments that are here wouldnt be.

perhaps just because its an idea I had people are against it.

i wish people could look past their opinion of individuals and give a true opinion on this topic and not take this opportunity to disagree with me once again.

for a guy who is always trying to skirt the rules of the FS section, you are sure worried about its looks, does this make it easier for you to try to bend the rules more fits?

and where do you see me with the same thing posted in multiple threads?

DON did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed today? you are never this grumpy when you are IMing me.

The G9X mouse was listed in your throw it away thread as well as its own thread until you just edited it out at 2:41 CST. I should have grabbed a screenshot:laugh:

I'm not being grumpy, just disagreeing with you. I feel like debating, not arguing. I do agree with you on the max post count thing in a thread though; several forums implement that.

see the post above yours.

just because you are a moderator does that mean you have to mess with people to gain some form of respect that you feel you deserve only because of your position?

I posted a proposed change to the B/S/T as well that never got anything accomplished as well, so you're not special.

I dislike the idea. Alot. The only change it could do with is just to have three sub-forums, buy/sell/and lastly trade. Why it needs to go further down to individual items like that is ridiculous.

Sorry fits if the truth burns maybe you shouldnt play with fire, I have a section of reports to back up my claims...

I just wondered why a guy who is constantly hounded about not listing in the section correctly is worried about the way it looks.

I could care less who posted the idea, I don't pay attention to stuff like that. I try to stay on topic in threads as much as possible and the topic of this thread is about the idea, not the person. I wasn't shooting down your idea, I don't even think it's a bad idea, I just prefer the way things are. Time and time again when ideas and proposals are out there about expanding the forum in some way, it concludes to the same agreement that TPU has a pretty clean and simple forum layout and it's a part of its identity.

Now, I would just like to suggest to some of you, no matter what your differences are, to just be nicer to one another. Holding grudges, feeling angry, paranoid, all that crap is nothing but made up stuff you've come to believe in your own mind. Everyone always has a choice.. Let whatever bother you or don't. How bout, don't. It's much better on yourselves and you'll be happier. Nobody's changing anybody on the internet anyways.

So with that said, this forum is to discuss hardware, software, gaming and discussion about the website itself. Try to keep your comments directed in these areas and not at each other.

Because we are such a small community, I kind of prefer just to browse what is "in stock" on the BST forums. However the "view all" will fix that so I see not reason why not. What we have does work though.

I'd say what we have works fine.

After all, there's the search function and the OP is allowed to bump the thread every 24 hours.

It would be much, MUCH more difficult for sellers to list their items as they would have to seperate things into categories in order to sell them. Say I had a Radiator, fans, 2 CPU's, an old Nvidia MX card, and a couple of Hard drives. If I sat down one day and decided I wanted to sell all my old crap, instead of simply making a "sniperbob's FS thread!" I would have to create at least 4 different threads for the different categories. If I wanted them to sell, I would have to bump 4 threads daily until the products moved?

This is why I strongly dislike the XS F/S section and enjoy browsing the Hardforum one. You just have to have a trained eye for things i guess...

My opinion is the same as it is with every suggestion regarding the trade forum. 1 item per thread, clear title > easy to search. It's one of the reasons I don't care to use the feature, it's impossible to just browse items because everyone needs his own for sale thread, I'd have to open all these threads just to see there is nothing I'd like in them.
At some point I made a pretty drawing that showed I am right, can't be bothered to find it or make a new one though.

Next time you might want to do less opposing/unnecessary options in the poll. Tends to make things look skewed toward the one option you want.

I agree with Paulie, I do not think the structure as it is is broken. I think DonK had a good idea with one FS thread and 1 WTB thread- I always try to follow that.

This. I think changing it is pointless. I dont think the curent layout in anyway hampers the B/S/T section and I think people do fine rules/navigation wise with it.

Some of us don't have this option, Mr bold named Moderator type. If I had that power, I'd use it and just keep one thread going with an ever changing title depending on what I've got. User-controlled thread titles in the B/S/T is an awesome idea.

Sigh, gimme a min and I'll make the drawing so you understand why I disagree.

Here we go:

Close threads that are no longer active, simpler to navigate. The only actual addition I can think of is adding a tag for category (like [HD] for harddisks) and being able to filter on that. But I'm not sure if filtering is something that can be added easily.
