I don't see that as such a big isse. If I see the person to whom I gave advise acknowledges it, I'm happy. And I find a written thank you in a post more pleasing that a number below my avatar.

The thanks button is totally voluntary. It's certainly nice if people click it, but I'd hate to make people feel bad for not doing so.

    +1

Well put. It's a nice feature to have as a positive deal, but to expect it on every helpful post you donate isn't the point of helping in the first place. I'd rather feel better knowing my donations to a problem fixed the problem than worrying about my thanks count.

Ditto. The thanks button is for expressing gratitude for a post without replying to the thread.

I would rather see people click the thanks button if they are in agreement with a post than add a post that only says "+1".
Which by the way is not looked upon as fashionable by the mods or at least used to be frowned upon and would get a reply stating that you need to be a little more descriptive.

Only thing I've learned from this thread is that some people like to abuse the thanks button. Then again, I knew that already. So, I guess I've learned nothing from this thread.:ohwell:

well if you can offer help to a fellow tpu'er it's nice but sometimes people will have niggly problems that you really need to be in front of you to deal with but i don't expect thanks it's nice if someone does give it, but then giving advice is what ya do if ya can, although i still think we need a good guide to problems won't say any more other than dan probably knows what i'm talking about

update.gif i'll just thank the guys who made these dori's they're delicious and only 500k calories per 100grams ah more weight on me belly ;)

I'm sorry now for this thread. This was not my intention. I was just wondering why some thank and some do not when given help or recommendations. Again, I apologize for this thread getting out of control.

    This isnt a big issue.

If I were to help someone, and get thanked by them, the "thanks" would mean more to me from someone with 50 than 5,000 "thanks" given. I have very few "thanks" given, if you get a thanks from me, it definitely means something. If someone helped me with something, I will post, or PM, a thank you.

i dont mind being thanked, or not, i mean all of us know a litte more about computers then someone else and if we can share that knowledge and just help out someone that is having a shitty time with a computer problem they cant figure out, thats what were all here for. a big family of nerds that help each other out, lol

seems someone is just fishing for more thanks lol, personally i find it voluntary to do, and as such i do most of my posting from my blackberry storm 2 so it's a bit hard to hit that thanx button
