Whilist overclocking my 2.2GHz Phenom 9500 to 2.65GHz at 1.375v running an OCCT stress test, my computer turned off by itself. I thought it no big deal, took a nap and when I woke up and tried to turn my computer on... nothing. In short my motherboard, processor and video card were cut down. I threw the processor away as there was no way to return it, the video card is now a paperweight as I have thrown the stock cooler away (the fan was giving me trouble so I put my VF900 on it and threw the cooler away), and I RMA'd the motherboard sucessfully.

So I am left with a new motherboard thanks to newegg, my old 8600gts, and a single core sempron. I still have my athlon 64 x2 5200+ which I thought was dead as well as I tried putting it in the cooked board, however it does work and I promised it to one of my uncles. New specs are to the left.

On the birght side, I still have a good am2+ board (it has an onboard 8100 I am dedicating to physx), a half-ass decent video card and processor. My birthday is right around the corner in mid-june so I will probably get a 9600GT then.

In short, the casualties I suffered $10.95 shipping the board back to california, a quad core processor, a dual core processor, $30 for a new processor (pretty good deal though... $30 for a 2.2ghz single core... it's not that bad, based on brisbane arcitecture only it's single core and runs at 800MT/s instead of 1000MT/s), a 9800gt and about 2 weeks of not having my own computer. I've been playing STALKER occasionally at my uncle's. In 2 weeks' time I've gone from the start of the game to the Dark Valley where I have to raid the bandit base for the second key to lab x18. I have been through the Army Warehouses though picking up some stuff.

I don't know how it killed everything unless that board is a POS in the first place

you going to clock that sempron? 3ghz should come easy

I feel for you mate, had my rig stolen today. So have lost an X3 8750 BE,9800GT,Corsair 620PSU,Antec 900 case, OCZ platinum RAM,2 Hard Drives. Just speccing my new build now, though its going to take a couple of months :( Still, at least I can keep coming on here until then and the excitement/anticipation of a new build is all part of the fun . Good luck Bud :)

Sorry to hear that hat + lifeonmars. Did they break in your house and take it? Was it insured?

I'm wary of overclocking on this board... I would like to hit 3GHz but I heard it takes 1.5v or so to get there... first off that's a lot for a 65nm processor, second it only took 1.375v to kill my motherboard in the first place. Or maybe it was running OCCT that killed it?

I am willing to bet that the board uses poor voltage regulation.and the shitty quality of parts couldn't handle the stress of the quad overclocked. (just my thoughts) also did you have any cooling on the mosfets? I would try for 3ghz on stock voltage most of the 65nm chips like that can get close to 3ghz on stock or just alittle bump (if its based on the G2) could you please post a CPU-Z? I would like to see some info on that semp :toast:

i DON'T think that OCCT would have anything to do with it. like i said i think it couldn't handle the stress of an overcloced quad

Well at the moment I live in a shared house, someone had left the back door open and some git got in and take alot from different peoples rooms. Needless to say I'm getting new security for my door and as for insurance, thats in the hands of the landlord :shadedshu Looking forward to speccing a new build though, lifes too short to get down about it.

No mosfet cooling, just whatever air blows around from my cpu cooler.
I don't have the sempron in my posession now, still waiting on it's arrival. Currently using my old x2.

oh i see. why don't you just keep using the X2?
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GET SOME HEATSINKS ON THE MOSFETS BEFORE YOU TRY TO OVERCLOCK A QUAD AGAIN!

This thread is full of suckage. LifeOnMars, a gun and a dog are the best security measures. I have two German Shepard's and 9mil, I live in the ghettoist area of Nebraska, there are reported robberies and crap all over the place, never been hit once.

We have mexicans. One broke in my house, and car. he was runnign away, bleeding, woudned, and with less than he came with though, damn lazy cops still haven't found him though. According to them, he probably hit the first bus, truck or train back to Mexico to avoid getting arrested.

You sure it wasn't the psu, hat? The psu can take everything out like that.

Sorry to hear that hat and lifeonmars, both stories are quite saddening.

@hat yeah have you looked into the psu? as Wile E hinted. That happened to me with my msi delta board and athlon xp barton chip. luckily only the mobo died. the gpu and proccie survived.

Best of luck with the new rig to both of you. :toast:

I could almost guarantee you it was your PSU, change it quickly. If overclocking killed something, it would only be that thing, only more if by extreme coincidence.

no, my ac freezer 60 pro. not dicking around with the stock cooler when I have this

here's my cpuz. memory is running at the wrong speed as usual with regular am2 processors, and the motherboard detected my memory timings wrong, as usual...

try setting voltage to 1.35v and bus speed to 272 and if your ram can do 1000 you will have 3ghzl. That is a G2 stepping so it should vary easy
