Would that be better then my E7500 idea? i just always here the core 2 are alot better for console emulation

So a P43 would be just as good,but only pci-e 1.0? correct

thanks again for all replys a better go to sleep soon.....

the new athlons would probably overtake the older 7500 there pretty much neck and neck with the 8*** series of intel cpu's :)

im not sure on the p43 question :(

and what console's will you be emulating?

cos all will run ok psx2 is HEAVY on the system makes mine be sluggy even with quad @ 3.6 etc... and then i doubt there is any for x360 and ps3,

but all the others psp gba DS etc.. all will run great

have a look at this post over at XS to get some other idea's

theres prices for builds (intel + amd) and what the parts cost :)

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3671110&postcount=1

(great look for every1 when recommending parts etc)

Stock for stock AMD and Intel are pretty close but Mussels is correct the Intel wins when Overclocking!

Intel wins when you do some heavy overclocking, but I don't think he will OC that hard on a budget setup. :p

The Phenom II X2 550 BE with the unlock fun is something you should consider also.
Grab a decent 770 mobo and a couple sticks of DDR2 will do.

intel wins hard when you do light OCing. I dont think you get just how easy it is with intel.

If he buys a CPU with a 266Mhz FSB and his motherboard and ram are capable of 400Mhz - then he can raise it to 400Mhz leaving everything else in his system at STOCK. you only overclock one part - the CPU itself. you might as well have an unlocked multiplier, for how easy it is.

266x11 = 2.9Ghz
333x11 = 3.66Ghz
400x11= 4.4Ghz

So if he does get a CPU with an 11x multi - you can kind of see how even a cheap budget board (since all P45 support 400FSB) with 800Mhz ram can kind of... get you a massive OC, assuming your CPU cooler can handle it?

In this case the PII X2 550 actually have an unlock multi. :p
You hardly need to mess with the FSB (and the RAM ratio) much.
It really can't get easier than this.

true point - but is it available from his store, can he afford it, does he want AMD?

I think at this point we need to let him make decisions, and come back to us.

I just make a suggestion so that the OP have more choices.
Unfortunately the E6500K will be a great choice if it is avaliable.

australia takes a while to get the latest stuff, NZ will take even longer. Odds are it'll have to be in the USA for at least 6 months before he can find it.

Hey guys ,Thanks for all the Info, really really choice :respect: LOL also im not completely computer illiterate ,grew up on 386/486 and My beast mac at the time LC575 with CD-ROM !!and yes crappy cassette tape PC,s but yeah i knew jack about different types of mobo's other then intel and amd types,anyways i know alot more thanks to you guys:toast:

Ive always pretty much had Amd + Ati but i Always read about how good the Core2 is :mad: Doesnt newish intels have extra instructions like sse4.1 and ssse3,does Amd support these now? No amd sorry,hyper memory gives me nightmares

Ive decided to buy this mobo :ASUS P5Q SE2 INTEL P45 CHIPSET LGA775 ATX 1600FSB

And 4gb generic DDR2 dual channel kit (2x2gb) really cheap

And i think i wait a week and get some more funds to whack a E7500 or maybe E8 sumthin (is the 6mb L2 cache worth the extra $)

And have enough left for a cheap cpu cooler and some decent thermal paste,then ill be set with a cheap pretty fast PC:pimp:

the extra cache is worth it, but dont get it at cost of a multiplier.

Look at 400MHz FSB, as its what you'll get for sure.

400x9 - 3.6Ghz (good, about what you'd expect on air)
400x8 - 3.2Ghz (low, for air)
400x7 or under: not worth it.

I'd get a lower cache CPU with a higher multi, if i was going to be forced 8.5x or under.

P45 was the main, full featured desktop chipset. P43, P41 etc are all cut back versions designed for microATX - they could be missing PCI-E lanes, they could have less SATA ports, whatever. i dont know specifics.

G versions (G43) have onboard intel graphics, and are almost exclusive to micro ATX boards.

I really think P43 is just a binned P45 chip that may not OC as high FSB as a P45. They are still good OC boards and often have all the same features (and are ATX not mATX) as a P45 board but may not OC to the extreme like a P45 can.
