I did a lot of testing today in order to stabilize my FPS. I have a 100hz capable monitor and even though my GTX 980ti was only @ 81% usage, I noticed that my FPS were going all over the place dropping all the way down to 60 fps at times instead of 99fps for say...

I tried d3doverrider, tweaks, triple buffering etc...

I discovered there's a memory flaw in the game, the game HATES when you ALT+TAB out of the game. Never do it!!!

If you do alt tab out of game, you'll get a considerable lesser performance when you go back to the game. Which suck cause I love browsing whilst waiting in queue and whatnot... Haven't found a solution except these 2 things:

  • Turn off IN GAME v-sync
  • FORCE v-sync through the nvidia panel
  • DON'T Alt+tab out of the game ever. Or if you do, Close the game and restart it before you come back from browsing or whatnot

Free to play game. Something to do with Legacy of Kain I think. It didn't get very good reviews and didn't come across my radar either until this thread.

Yup. Could even be a neat trick for other games. Nosgoth is indeed a vampire Vs humans pvp game.

Lots of fun and potential. In free to play open beta state at the moment

I've heard of the game and wasn't interested at all. Vampires are so overrated.

I experienced this in the past with other games. But I guess it is a system problem or driver because I could not replicate the issue with a clean install.

Not sure, but it could be interesting to investigate.

When you say "you couldn't replicate the issue with a clean install"

Do you mean with the nosgoth game or with other titles?

This seems to me like an Nvidia SLI issue that I get from time to time.

In my case. Nosgoth is setup (in the nvidia control panel 3d settings) to use only "single card" even if I do have 2 cards since one gtx 980ti eats the game alive anyhow

So I'm not entirely sure it's related to sli.
It is indeed a very intriguing and mysterious phenomenon

The "Nos" part almost makes it sound like nosalis vs vampire, or goth style nose piercings. LOL

Have you checked the graphics settings when going back in? I had the same problem with Far Cry 4 until I realized that every time I alt-tabbed, the game switched from fullscreen to borderless. And since borderless is basically a windowed game, it's reasonable to assume that my GPU thought it could just do less work because it didn't think the game was a game anymore.

That's a good question. I'll try it this evening and see what happens

Yeah, definitely try windowed or borderless fullscreen. It should stop the "lost focus" shenanigans a lot of games have issues with.

LOL, yup, hadn't thought of that.

Then again, a bit of Metro to spice it up could make for an interesting nos vs nos, as in Underworld.
