Infraction Warning expire?

Hey guys, just something thats been bugging me for a while.

Got an infraction ages ago because I pushed a little too far asking for some details on a Win 7 torrent link and got into trouble for it. Im not trying to say it wasnt my fault or anything, because I was daft enough to break the rules by asking about torrents, so its 100% my fault.

However the thing that bothers me is that the infraction bar stays at the bottom of my user cp, even despite it being an expired warning (wasnt a full blown infraction, no points or anything, just a warning). Now theres the arguement that they get left there to remind us of why we broke the rules in the first place, however with it being a warning and me, very shortly after throughly reading the rules to prevent any future mishaps, I think that as far as warnings are concerned, maybe there should be the warning period until it expires, then say a month after that date before it is removed form the UserCP?

    Any thoughts?

Think of it as a healed wound that left a scar.
There is no more pain or anguish anymore, but it will always be a reminder.

I dont know, just dont let it bother you.

I still have my infraction for calling a member an a$$h@t, I really just giggle at my own stupidity when I see it now.

Dont take this as a you cant have it your way answer, just more as reminders are good at helping us to not make the same mistakes twice. I havent called another member that since...lol

Oh, no, im not trying to sound like a kid thats kicking his feet trying to get his own way, its just a suggestion - if anyone has such OCD like tendancies as me it'll annoy them too haha.

no worries Kyle, thats what I ment about not taking it the wrong way. I just ment that even though you have a valid point/concern, I find it ialot easier to use it as a source of lolz.

It was towards a member, and it was long before I was a moderator.

I understand your side Kyle, but the way I look at it, is just like Kreij, you earned it, like a scar you'll have something to remember it by. Doesn't make you wany worse-off here, isn't seen by other members, isn't a big deal till you start picking at it and making it worse imo. You're a good user, and if I had a warning/infraction I might also be interested but not worried if it never goes away. I'd say let it roll off your back and worry not, you're a good member, things happen, gotta move forward and keep the ball rollin ya know?

I recommend picking at it until it becomes a festering, pus oozing sore.
It will still be an eyesore, but at least you will have the chance to infect other people and have bragging rights! :rockout:

No worries, Kyle, I still see my one and only ban notification and laugh. All is good.

Not only is a reminder for the user, but is really helpful for the mods too. Its a record that you have received a warning in the past. If for example you were to ask again, we could check your infraction page and see that you have already been wanred once before, so this time, it would be fair to give you say a 5 point infraction for breaking a rule even after you have been warned before.

If the infractions/warnings didnt stay we wouldnt know.

Goes for the same with arguments and flamers and trolls, at first you may just give them a warning but it keeps a record of everything they have warner or infracted for.

A Yellow Card is a warning and a Red Card is an infraction.

I have obviously removed any indicative info, so you just how the infraction/warning looks.

I'm pretty sure you can use greasemonkey for firefox to edit the page each time it is loaded and have it remove the infraction table. I don't know GM well enough to tell you how, but if you're really motivated, it shouldn't be too hard. Just remember to share. :toast:

Back in 2007, W1zz was testing out something on the boards and created a test thread (which was deleted). Since he was using the thread for testing he did not want people posting in it and wrote "anyone who posts her gets banned". Well, that was just to much temptation for some of us fools (DanTheBanjoman was the first to post in it an get banned )
Here is the dicussion that followed.. Its pretty funny. (It's 631 days old, so I don't recommend reviving it as a zombie or you might get banned yourself ;) )

Getting banned or an infraction is not something to be proud of, but there is no reason to dwell on it. Learn from your mistakes and move along. :toast:

w1zzard wants it to remain this way, so this way it stays.

Remember that only you and moderators can see them.

I got two pages of infractions. I also have severe OCD. I take 100mg of Prozac, 50mg of Xanex and something else everyday to keep it in line. Infractions are the last of my worries.

Well I could cry and complain or make light of it. I'm really not one to bitch about something. Especially when its free like TPU.
