275 is an older card so it`s hard to find a comparison like this on teh web. Is the 630 better and if so by how much ? This is just for flash games and playing avi files so don`t sugeest any other cards thx.

The 630 will handle flash games and play .avi files with no problems. It will also do it at much less of a power draw than the 275.

Did they actually make a retail GTX630. Pretty sure that card was only released to OEMs. You could run the Intel HD4000 integrated GPU just fine for avi files and flash games lol.

Edit: Nevermind, found them on newegg. They are GT630s. Like erocker said either one is fine, just the 630 will consume a lot less power at the same time.

    A GT 630 is a re-branded GT 440.
Here is a comparison between a GT 440 (GT 630) and a GTX 260 (so your GTX 275 is even faster).
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/610?vs=664
As you can see, the GTX 260 is way faster, but consumes way more! Since it says in your system specs that you already have the GTX 275, I would suggest you to keep it.
francis511 and MxPhenom 216 say thanks.

Wow that`s surprising. I was sure the 630 would be at least SLIGHTLY faster. May have saved me some money there guys !!

Is there an iGPU in your CPU? I would just use that. If you're just playing flash games, I doubt your GPU will even be used. I suppose if it's just sitting there at idle all the time it's not going to use much power anyways. :)

The GT630 is a slower card newer generation. The GTX275 is a faster card older gen so it will be faster then the 630. The GT630 isn't really a gaming card but more of an HTPC card

It largely depends on what are you going to use it for. The GT 630 comes with HDMI 1.4a which can stream 3D movies and games as well as act like an ethernet to your TV. GTX 275 has an older generation HDMI- for the differences check out Wikipedia topic about it. If gaming/rendering/animating is your primary concern then GTX 275. If everyday use, low electricity use and size are what matters get GT 630. By the look of your original post I feel you would be better with the GT 630.

The GTX275 would be faster than the GT630 on older gen games. But like erocker said the 630 will consume less power. The gtx275 is only a DX10 based card and the gt630 is DX11. One thing to remember is that the gt630 isn't going to play dx11 games that well. My brother is gaming on a GTX285 and it plays all his games well. So, with a little over clock you could get close to the same performance of a GTX285. I'd get the GTX275 over the GT630 for gaming. If you are just going to be playing web based games and surfing and watching videos then the gt630 over the gtx275.

Get whichever one is cheaper. You are only watching videos and playing Flash games. Very very little power is actually needed for that. You should honestly just get a $40 to $50 GPU if that is all the computer will be doing from now on.

    actually in dx10 alone the current gpu equivalent would be 7770-gtx 650 ti(that's alittle better) or a heavily oc'ed 7750/gtx650;
its funny to see some of the coments (not yours in particular), people think new cards are soo much better than the high end from last gens(even low end ones like gt 630) wich are not.

Damn ma card is soooo old that I just assumed any modern card would beat it. What`s the cheapest card that`s faster than a gtx 275 is what I`m really asking....

Exactly.. I don't get that either.. A GTX275 will smoke that GT630 in DX9/DX10 games.. Now the obvious win in DX11 is the GT630 only because the GTX275 won't play DX11, but with that being said hell a gt630 isn't going to play DX11 that well. I wouldn't get anything less than a GTX650 ti... If he wants a 6 series card for gaming. :toast:

People should read the OP. A video card will make almost zero difference on a modern system for flash games and playing video.

What you are using is more than enough. The only reason to get the GTX 630 would be if you want to save on power. Both cards will provide more than enough performance for flash games and video.

630 is slower indeed, but it's a much more efficient GPU (has more features too) and it's surely enough for some flash gaming (even an modern IGP would be enough tbh). The 275 was a high-end GPU, it would be an overkill for flash games.

But you don't need more power if you are just playing flash games and watching movies. WHat are you really wanting to do with your system?

And you can't think that way. Thats like saying any new stock Honda will be faster than my 10 year old Pontiac Firebird, cause its old.

The gtx 275 glitches a bit which is why I want to replace it. Think imma go with a gtx 650. What`s the ATI equivalent ?

Read the OP.. Never!.. lol I agree with you, I would just keep the GTX275 before I bought a gt630. :toast:

EDIT: Yea, if the GTX275 is flaking out on you then that's a whole different story. The HD7770 or a GTX650 would work. I'd get the gtx650 ti
