I'm not going i7 until I can afford at least a 950, preferably a 975 (when they release). But, I want to wait overall to see when the 8 cores are due out. I figure this QX should hold me off until then. Just won't be able to top any bench charts for a while.

I've been going raging mad trying to get my CPU to be Linpack stable, and it paid off. I left it crunching with some new BIOS settings while I went over to my buddy's house and drank some beers and listened to rock n frkin roll for a bit. I got back and it was still running without a hitch, which tells me it is Linpack stable now. I'll leave it running all night when I finally do pass out, just to be sure.

I was just playing with getting my E7400 stable to 3.8 for a 1GHz OC and it will just not budge. Orthos crashes out fairly soon and Linpack always demolishes and creates mad heat and BSOD's my sht pretty quick.

i bet you arent the only one with problems. the stable PC clubhouse has a total of two people so far who can prove their system is linpack stable.
