Installing XTU, "verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services"

Hello all, I am encountering the following issue when trying to install XTU, "verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services".

I am trying to install on a newly purchased Asus ROG G751JT running Win 8.1. Please see the screenshot for details.

I have tried everything I know over the past 24 hours but to no avail and your help would be much appreciated.

Actually run the installer as an admin, don't let the installer attempt to elevate itself when it needs it. I find some older or more finicky installers don't always detected UAC as being active.

I also have the same problem for my windows 8.1 install previously and right now on my windows 10 install. I am not sure what is happening or what the solution is. I managed to get it installed after I wipe my windows 8.1 clean before and reinstall windows. Right now that is the option I am not willing to do as I am not willing to reinstall a lot of software. If you don't mind you can do a clean install. If you just want to monitor temperature I recommend going for other software like hwmonitor or speedfan. And for cpu speed just use cpu-z. Yeah it is frustrating but those works fine

I noticed that this problem for XTU on a Uefi install but not on a legacy install. There could be something about uefi interfering with it.
