ok so i got this cpu for my uncle,and for whatever reason cant pull to much info up on google about it..Intel Pentium 4 2.5Ghz/512K Cache/400FSB the stepping code is SL6PN and here is a link to the info http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL6PN

what i want to know is what core this chip is and how far u think i can clock this on stock intel hsf?

That should be a Northwood. It's 130nm and 400fsb. Heat wasn't actually as bad on the Northies as some later models. 2.9-3.0 shouldn't be a problem.

don't put much over 1.7v on it they have a real urge to fry right around that point;)

Yeah, but I wouldn't even bother upping the voltage on the crappy Northwood hsf, anyway.

i lapped the crappy intel hsf and the puck on the chip so there both mirrored finish,so hopefully i can keep the heat down..and the motherboard its all on is a AOpen AX4BS-PRO..not the best but it has some overclocking options in the bios..any help?
