I have this bizarre issue with the intel igpu. I have the drivers installed, the igpu shows up in my Device Manager, i have the shortcut to the intel hd graphics control panel on my desktop but it refuses to open, it looks like it opens but it closes instantly.

The main reason i need this is to use while game recording using Intel Quick Sync to offload my gpu & cpu.

I've reinstalled the drivers from the asus & intel website to no avail.

It also seems i have enabled it in the bios although i couldn't really find a specific setting for it.

Any help is appreciated greatly!

Edit: my monitor is connected to my first gtx 760, the only onboard connection is hdmi but my monitor only does dvi & vga.

Hi Dimi,

have you made any progress with this problem? I too have the exact same problem. If I click on the control panel link it shows but immediately closes. I too have a GTX 760 card in my PC.

Cheers

I believe this happens because i don't have a monitor attached to the hdmi output on my motherboard.
I don't know if i can get power from the discrete gpu's if i'm using the onboard hdmi output.
There is no support for Lucid Virtu MVP for my motherboard so i'm not sure if it would work.

Edit:

Finally found the sollution.

Make sure the primary gpu (in my case gtx 760) is set to pci-e in the bios and enable igpu multi monitor.

Then follow this very easy tutorial

Hi Dimi. Made the changes and followed the tutorial and it works. Thanks.

However looking at this I ask myself the question whether it is really necessary to add the extra display just to be able to use the Intel control panel. Does it give you any benefits doing so?

To me it seems both my displays are still running through my GTX and the Intel 4600 is just serving a virtual display (that does not really exist).

Is this worth it though? It feels weird doing it this way.

For me it is, videos get converted way faster with quick sync than with my cpu or gpu.
