Intel HD [ATI drivers]

all the sudden my video drivers say they came from ATI Technologies Inc.

?

sorry, i should have done this right away, i have intel HD original, the highest clocked one tho, i think 500 something mhz normal, 766mhz max? im not switchable, its just that one gpu all by its self and as you can see int he screenshot, these are the drivers for that specific gpu anyways... the drivers are from windows update, they just came in just a little before i posted this post originaly.

ATI has been bought by AMD. As both are very big companies a label transition takes a veeeery long time. Therefore sometimes components are labeled "ATI" and sometimes "AMD". This has no effect on functionality.

They have two drivers listed; you did not happen to accidentally install the one with Intel and AMD drivers? :ohwell:

Or, you didn't get lucky enough to get a switchable graphics model... :eek:

Sounds like the graphics Apple was using for a while in their high end laptops where you had a low power video chip for applications, and a more powerful one that would crossfire with the first one for gaming. I'm pretty sure they were both AMD chips, though.

Whoa, here it is in the specs of the latest models. They are now using Intel HD graphics as the basic graphics processor with an AMD chip for gaming.

so in other words, maybe they worked with AMD to make the driver, and that driver got re-used on the OP's laptop

mine only has the 1 intel HD gpu, the one that comes on the cpu, not the one thats on die just on the package next to it, its a core i5 480 M

no, it says on the driver page the ones he downloaded are compatible with gpu switching laptops, intel gpu;s are of nvidia design anyway

dosn't matter, windows update is wrong surprisingly often

but theres still the underlying point the intel gpu's are of nvidia design so unless their outsourcing its unlikely that amd had anything to do with it
