Following the official name scheme confirmation of the Nehalem processors, Intel today also slashed the price of its Core 2 Quad Q9550 (2.83 GHz) CPU by a massive 40% from $530 to $316 in 1000-unit tray quantities. In addition Intel introduced today four new CPUs, confirming the Sunday information posted on our site here:

    • Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33GHz 6MB L2 cache - $266
    • Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 (45nm) 2.66GHz 1333MHz FSB 6MB L2 cache - $266
    • Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 (45nm) 3.0GHz 12MB L2 cache - $576
Later on, Intel will release a third Core 2 Quad processor, the Q8200 CPU working at 2.33GHz.

Wonder if they'll be able to take that Q9550 up to 4Ghz, like the 8400 does/

The E8600 looks to be an awesome overclocker as it's the new E0 stepping. Shame it doesn't cost £140, closer to £185 which is total BS. It's cheaper to pay some1 in US to ship it over here!

That price can't be right... I would expect it to be a little higher than the Q9550. I thought the Q9650 was supposed to be in the $550 range.

Explains the recent price drops. With the E8500 at $185 I think that E8600 will be kindof a hard sale, especially as those would be the two I would be looking at right now.

So who's going to OC these to 6ghz : D

Anyone know the difference between the new Q9650 and the QX9650? There dosen't seem to be any difference between them except for the $500 bankroll.
