I was just checking my iphone/ipod gamingsite and came to this amazing(psp/ps2) owning news.
This app is not a game but it demonstrates the power of the 3rd generation ipod touch/3gs/i4. It has a full medieval town to walk through and has som very impressive graphics (look at shading and textures)

They also said a few week ago that RAGE will be coming to the iphone which will probably use the same engine.

Had the misses put this on her iPhone 4 and took it for a spin. Lags a little, but otherwise does look good. My concern is how much of a hit it will take when you add things to interact with instead of walking around an empty castle.

The guided tour gives the nicest screen shots. I say this is Dreamcast level stuff.

It looks nice but if you have a dedicated graphics chip in a devie, it's rather easy really.
But have you seen Asphlat or NFS Shift on for example Samsung Wave? It has NO graphics chip inside, just 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, yet it can render incredible detail, textures and all. Of course it's not on such level as this presentation but for a device without GPU, i was really surprised what it can do. But still, it's nice to see phones evolving into something more than just devices to make calls.

I agree its pretty impressive. The iPhone and iPod touch both have really nice hardware, it really just takes a skilled developer to get the most out of it.

The other thing that concerns me is that the real sweet spot for games on the App Store is $0.00 to $1.99 (thats being generous). I can't imagine the finished product falling in that price range, and I highly doubt they would see Red Dead Redemption type sales if they had to price it @ 19.99-29.99+

Just have to see how it all pans out and what they plan to do as far as pricing. I think the iPhone is missing a good, in-depth, large scale RPG :D

That really is impressive. Didn't know the iPhone has a screen resolution of 960x640. That's very high for a 3.5" screen! Nice. I've never seen one, but I can imagine the screen looks super, with very clear legible text.

That means WE SHOULD DEMAND at least 1920x1280 on our 10" netbooks. GET ON WITH IT OEMS! I want to use high DPI fonts to improve screen reading. There are no more excuses

There was never a technology limitation. Its a cost limitation. Netbooks are made to be cheap, for the most part (the ones with 800x600 and 1024x768 screens anyway.) Notice how an Iphone with its 3 inch screen costs more than your netbook with its ten inch screen ;)

Remember, the 3rd generation iPod Touch with only 8GB is the equivalent of an iPhone 3G 8GB/16GB/32GB. (Basically a re-issued/cheaper 2nd generation iPod Touch.)

The 3rd generation iPod Touch with 32GB or 64GB is the equivalent of an iPhone 3GS 8GB/16GB/32GB.

does the iphone 4 even have much upgrades hardware specs? i've seen like 2 of em and they're smaller and look thicker as well by a decent bit. Reminds me of a fat Samsung Delve, literally identical design idea.

Now i'm confused. From the looks of it, Samsung Wave is using the same PowerVR SGX like iPhone, just a slightly more powerful version. SGX540 instead of iPhone's SGX535.
This means there is a chance Samsung users will get Unreal Engine based games as well lol.
    Interesting. And confusing lol.

Just tried it on my GF's 4G 32GB ... I couldn't believe she spent $1000 AUD on the spot on a phone but after testing the Unreal engine demo out, I'm very impressed and yes now I want an iPhone too :D.

It ran at least 30-60 fps with 20+fps when you look directly at the sun outdoors with the water etc. Overall smooth it's like a tiny tiny PC, bet it has better graphics than the PSP.
