Is dx10 really as great as windows claims?

    OGL 2.1 probably uses the DX10 hardware features, thats how its always been.

    DX10 makes everyone play by the same rules in hardware, OGL uses that hardware in (sometimes) better ways.

    Looks good really, i'm all for games being capable on other OS's (Mac/linux)

    I suppose the answer is, did you notice much difference between DX8 and DX9? One of the main things to come out of DX9 was SM3.... HDR lighting and TBH it did absolutely nothing for me, I appreciate there were other improvements also.

    I know in DX10 SM4 improves on HDR as well as more realistic partical effects and so on and so forth, lets just not forget that in most games, it's the gameplay that makes people play it and not the visuals, once the visuals have been experienced for a while, you start playing the game again and again for it's gameplay.
